Sinead O'Connor was excommunicated from the Catholic Church for trying to become a priest, so no, she wasn't Catholic. She died a Muslim, and probably would have preferred we called her Shuhada.

In reality she stopped being Catholic long before she ripped up a picture of the Pope. For more than 25 years she was Catholic only in a definition that would also include me - having been baptised as one. You seem to think lay Catholics have influence on the Church. They do not. Only in the form of donations, which practicing Catholics have never withheld. So I'm perfectly fine with the Church using those donations. Where else is it going to get money? Selling priceless artifacts?

The Catholic Church is being punished for its covering up of the abuse and moving priests around to give then fresh new hunting grounds when allegations were made in their old parish. It's a systemic issue being punished at a systemic level.

You don't actually just get to pay a little fine if you fuck a child.

Oh and 'Church asked to pay' is only in the headline because a very similar case happened in Ireland and a rogue minister on his last day agreed to have the government pay the fine which is the alternative- everyone, Catholic or not, asked to pay the fine.

No, you are banned because you broke a reddit-wide rule, don't use a second account to get around a subreddit ban. One butthurt trump mod can only ban you from their subreddit. Without that rule there would be no way whatsoever to stop people from flooding subreddits they don't like because "so what I can make another".

Yeah that's ban evasion dude, that's on you. Not sure sure why you'd engage with people who have explicitly said they don't want to hear it. Think of the spam/trolling possible if that wasn't enforced.

I think you've both missed the point. The problem isn't suggesting that it is similar to other work, but comparing it in the first place. Until someone starts doing so, the art is free and stands alone. As soon as something is categorised and genre-matched, suddenly it is no longer judged in isolation as to its effects on the observer.

Can you explain what you understand the implications of AI for privacy to be?

It's worth saying that "sexy" is not translated well in other languages and cultures. It was very common in Thailand and Malaysia while I lived there to hear parents and relatives say their child was 'sexy'. I wouldn't be surprised if it also made its way into Chinese-English parlance as "visually appealing" rather than "I'd fuck that".

Given that each year 30,000 or 8% of US military women experience abuse and your first reaction to this person working as a professional killer with you was "she's cute", it sounds like her ploy worked perfectly.

"Working poor" sounds bad. "Proletariat" sounds unamerican.

... I don't see how you can genuinely have understood that to be a point I was making. That's the opposite of what I was saying. I even gave an example of how you might be forced to drive a car. Because you are in fact forced to live in society. But you are here on Lemmy so you must understand that you are not forced to use Gmail? So either you're being disingenuous or you're not actually reading all of what I'm posting. Given how you completely ignored the majority of my other post and went straight to "oH sO iF wE dO iT fOr 20 yEaRs", I'm going with the latter.
