Hey gamers! We just created two new events for The Gamer's Tavern's community nights!

Check them out:

And don't forget @harrybo 's live streaming tonight, he will be playing BeamNG and show us the new rally update!

Come play with us!

I'm a bit late posting this but we set up two community nights this week

Join us and let's play together!

Hey adventurers! Come around, pull a chair and sit by the fire, it's time for an announcement.

We decided to host a new free service (surprise surprise!) and this time is Mobilizon

We decided to give all you gamers, streamers, content creators, etc. a brand new federated place where you'll be able to put your event/calendar, may it be about live streaming, publishing videos/podcast/audiobooks/books/whatever on your channel or just looking for some players for a cozy night. It's a calendar, it's a LFG tool, it's a plane - no wait, scratch this one - and it's yours and as always it's free of charge :)

You'll find the new service here

Seeing how much we expanded our self hosted catalog, we feel it's about time to publish a FAQ page on our blog and we will in the next few weeks. In the meantime, feel free to reach our staff and ask directly on Mastodon/Discord/Matrix/IRC/Lemmy

Info regarding Wine-Wayland:

YMMV (Your mileage may vary). Most games that utilizes DXVK or VKD3D should be fine. Games that have native Vulkan or OpenGL are a coin toss. Most launchers should also be fine (Again huge thanks to Etaash, he's been hammering out a lot off the Wine-Wayland bug fixes, including one that was critical for OpenGL and launcher rendering). If a game or launcher isn't working, please DON'T come bugging us to fix it. Officially we're with Valve on this -- it's not supported. It's there for people to use/try/test out because it's a wanted feature, that's the extent of it.

New option for using Wine-Wayland:

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1

New option for using HDR with Wine-Wayland:

PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1

It goes without saying, but just in case people don't know -- You need Wine-Wayland to use HDR, therefore you need both options for HDR:

PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1 %command%

If you want to use Wine-Wayland without HDR, you do NOT need this option:

PROTON_ENABLE_HDR=1

Known issues with Wine-Wayland:

DOOM 2016: Opens in small window and crashes on resolution change without mesa patch. Fixed with patch

DOOM Eternal: Crashes without mesa patch. Broken mouse cursor in menus, Broken mouse pointing in-game

DOOM The Dark Ages: Broken mouse pointing in-game

Wolfenstein The Old Blood: OpenGL error crash

Wolfenstein The New Order: OpenGL error crash

Wolfenstein Youn Blood: mangohud broken

Path of Exile/Path of Exile 2: Vulkan renderer broken without mesa patch. Fixed with patch.

AMD-Specific:

mesa patches needed for DOOM 2016 and DOOM Eternal: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/34918

mesa patches needed for DOOM Dark Ages: https://gitlab.freedesktop.org/mesa/mesa/-/merge_requests/34944

mesa patches needed for Path of Exile/Path of Exile 2 (currently not submitted yet): https://github.com/Nobara-Project/rpm-sources/blob/42/baseos/mesa/min_image_count.patch

Hopefully we can figure out a fix for the cursor issue in the DOOM games. Fingers crossed

It's beginning to look a lot like Christmas

๐ŸŽถ ๐ŸŽ„

Hey adventurers! As mentioned above, it's beginning to look a lot like Christmas, and 'tis the season for being festive and kind to each others. With this in mind, we took inspiration from what we did last year (raiding each others wishlists and gifting games) and we tried to regulate that and expand it further, so I'm happy to announce that The Gamer's Tavern Secret Santa is back for 2024!

After the latest Steam shenanigans we also decided to expand it further to GoG,

All data shared by the participants will be maintained by the staff until the end of the event; after the end of the event all data will be deleted.

Hi! I suggest moving all the way up in the mountains. It's not unusual to have good weather conditions and a good temperature starting from around 1500 meters high, circa.

I believe you should take a few steps in the Appennino Tosco-Emiliano (a bit north from Rome) and then move up north through trains / bus all the way to Trentino or the northern part of Veneto

A few loop trails to get through in a day

Feel free to reach out on my personal account for any doubt: @ItsMeAlex@mastodon.social

Ooh, amazing choice. Colin McRae's memories coming in, I need a moment.

Uhm I'm not sure about this issue, but it made some progress and that's nice.

I found this issue that might help or not, with the apparent fix of switching to Default for the first time and then switching back to Pipewire

Hey Lynn!

I'm in a similar situation but I've been able to play VR games through ALVR and the Quest 2 without an issue.

For starters, your friend doesn't need a specific USB C cable, he could use a USB C connected to the Quest 3 and a USB A 3.0 connected to the PC.

I take it that he installed ALVR through the AUR, being Garuda an Arch-Linux (I use Arch BTW) distro. I had several issues with that version and I fixed every issue using the alvr_streamer_linux.tar.gz download in the release page, see here for instructions.

Things that should be taken in consideration:

  • both the ALVR client (installed on the Quest) and the ALVR server (running on the PC) should be the same version number
  • the latest SteamVR patch breaks ALVR, hence it's mandatory to select "previous_version" through the Beta configuration of SteamVR (see here

My usual fire team can confirm that 380 is one of my favorite stratagems and I have it on me 90% of the time. We didn't notice much of a difference.

Patrol? 380 MM barrage.

Light nest? 380 MM barrage.

Stalker's lair? 380 MM barrage.

Achieving minimum damage with maximum force is the freedom way.

I threw a barrage on a heavy nest and got only 1 kill. Dem terminids have dodgin' skillz!!!!!

Yeeeeeaaaah, I remember someone shooting at the barrel.

COUGH
