My thoughts exactly... that's what we loved of Tim Waltz, was that he didn't fricking clutch his perls, go "oh my god, did I offend the snowflakes, I'm so sorry". He didn't call for violence, he just called for matching their rhetoric.

It depends what we mean by "not turning away". Absolutely on board with telling people they can join, and look at our side and what we have to offer.

Absolutely opposed to "OK so lets extend an olive branch and start hating trans people, cheering on ICE and concentration camps so they feel at home".

Anyone who wants to embrace that all people, are people and deserve respect, dignity and kindness, and that the government is supposed to be trying to help as many as possible... can become an ally and friend.

You can't eat until you find the Dufresne.

For a second I misread the punctuation, IE I thought it meant "to combat human trafficking, the state department guts it's office".

Not really sure what's happened for that as well, as myself one who still uses an RTA and a mod. The local vape shop in my area went under... so now basically it's ordering online as the only option. But even so the cost effectiveness is overwhelming.

Honestly I think it's simply the fact that, nice mods etc... last years... my RTA with about 15 bucks worth of cotton and wire, has held me up for over 2 years. $30 of liquid can last me 2 months easily. Meanwhile I'm seeing people buying disposables that last about 3 days for $25.

I assume that's basically what happened though, stores are incentivized to encourage things that bring lots of re-occuring income. I'd have to say it's the same as the reason why almost everyone uses inkjet printers instead of lasers.

Half the reason I started vaping was because I couldn't care less about killing myself, but spending $7 a day on a pack of cigs, was adding up fast.

So the bill is about weather control... but massively overestimating what it is and how it's been used.

Also just so mindnumbingly stupid even with the conspiracy theories. Lets say for a second there is a secret cabal lead by Soros, firing lasers at the ground to start wildfires, and creating/supercharging hurricanes to attack red states all behind the public eye... the solution is... "Make a law to make it illegal".

Good thing we made hijacking planes illegal or else someone might have flown them into the world trade center and pentagon, also good thing child molestation is illegal otherwise major powerful people would have been flying the lolita express to epsteins island and commiting rape and sexual assault.

So... mecha hitler has now set the standard for what AI must be by law.... I hate this timeline.

My point is, pre-tiktok shooting landscape video was basic use 101. Maybe your grandpa would shoot vertical, but your teenage kid would know to turn the phone sideways. So I'd say it's either "bare minimum competence 2018 and below", that yeah I guess became "near professional" post tik tok. But to me it just says amature who hasn't paid attention to current media formats.

Because I'd feel that someone who was "professional" would have shot it vertical for tik tok today, as that's the platform to reach new people.

Well I think bottom line is that's the rub, the burden to become a payment provider is high... which it should be, but that's because we need pretty damn good regulations on them (as obviously if their security goes to crap, the consiquences are insanely high).

In addition it kind of is a small group by design because, we can't have it as a large group. If we have a nice even spread across 50 payment processors, then either everyone needs 50 credit cards, or every service that needs to be paid needs contracts with 50 payment services.

[–] TheFogan@programming.dev 7 points 3 weeks ago

In a world without regulation etc... maybe. Bottom line we've given payment processors power. Bottom line we need to buy things in the digital world, unless crypto can actually be stabilized or designed in a way that doesn't require an unsustainable massive energy waste and polution to use.

There either needs to be a universal good as cash payment processor that anyone can easily use... or we need to force ones that exist to transfer payments without bias.

Working under Joker directly is dangerous, but working alongside his crew to pull off a big job can work out. Joker can be pretty reliable if his teammates show him respect. Joker would love to do a job against Trump or Musk.

Are there forms of joker that don't kill their henchmen on whims and for laughs?

Something I would note here, mostly this is only covering the "would the boss kill you directly". which is also kind of missing the second danger, IE even if there's a boss that would never personally kill you, certainly you also have to factor in the fact that any boss will throw you on the front lines of a war, throw you under the bus so the police are busy arresting you while they get away etc...

edit I’m not saying portrait is better. I hardly ever use my phones cameras. But most videos on the internet from the past 10 years are portrait mode.

Honestly I fully disagree on the 10 year mark. I'd say about 6 years ago the normal response to a portrait mode video was "what the heck is wrong with you, turn your phone sideways, only complete newbies shoot vertical video", our monitors are landscape, our TVs are landscape.

However, then covid hit, and tiktok became the popular video platform... and everything reversed.
