To be honest it's just a guess. But that's what happens to tech. They start up a company that never becomes profitable but take in VC cash, then sell off to a big guy and go on to do it again.

The folks at the top are getting VC money now for genetic research. The eventual goal is to sell the tech for parts. The "dire wolf" "de-extinction" is just their proof of concept that their genetic tech works.

The folks down at the operational level are either just doing a job or really think what they're doing is cool (I mean, I would certainly think tinkering like that was a blast).

My detailed explanation at my old job is that the dev team was full of idiots who hardcoded ipv4 addresses into their fucking code. Seriously. When we migrated from data center to cloud they had to go patch everything. The CTO wouldn't do shit about it and the director was just there riding things out until retirement.

I knew a bunch of dudes that did that with Magic cards back during revised. They would collect alpha, beta, and unlimited cards only to sell.

Reminds me of the episode where Tom is possessed....

I can tell you it's been pretty great to me. A bit of hard work and a bit of luck and now I'm doing well. I've got a long term contract with one company and take short term stuff that looks interesting or pays for my vacations.

Ok, that's a solid reference even if I won't read those anymore. Kudos.

I had no idea what that was so I had to look. Unfortunately I've never been on the toy collectable train. I have a couple of those vinyl bobblehead things (their name escapes me) that were given to me and a couple of tabletop minis I painted but that's the closest I ever came.

I miss stumbleupon. I found so much cool stuff and web comics I'm still reading 20 years later.

I hate how plausible this is.

I mean, how long did it take the cops to get there? Because .42 is crazy fucking high. It can absolutely kill you it's so high. She would have had to have more than 10 drinks in an hour for that. That's about two thirds of a fifth between the time it was called in and when the cops got there.

I'm not saying it's not doable. I'm saying if she did that she was trying to die.

I once paid a bar tab with my guitar skills. Does that count?

Paxton said he'd sue Harris and Bexar counties if they sent voter registration forms to "unverified recipients".

I wonder why Paxton doesn't want Harris county to vote.
