I have come to the conclusion that no one knows what the weather will do today. Met Office are predicting downpours and thunderstorms but the app (for Bristol) is saying it will be cloudy or partially cloudy all day. Other apps give a similar confusing picture of what to expect.

But yes, I agree, at least it is cooling down a bit. If I could get the house to cool as well that would be great.

I'm popping out to get a card this morning, and a stamp, and I'll have to sign it and post it before last post so it stands a chance of getting there only a little late.

Dad knows I am there for him when the shit hits the fan. He's visiting my sister tomorrow.

Woke up to rain, which is a shame as I didn't put the patio chair cushions away last night. So much for having breakfast in the garden again. The house is still like the 10th circle of Dante's Inferno, and one of my cats has vomited on the staircase.

I suggested to my wife that she should use a different house for marmite.

Non-amp link to BBC news article: https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-northern-ireland-65700288

A Belfast student has called for Of Mice and Men to be removed from the GCSE English literature course. Angel Mhande raised concerns about racial slurs used in the book, including the N-word.

Professor of American literature at Queen's University Belfast Philip McGowan said teachers needed more detailed guidance on how to teach Of Mice and Men.

Looks to me like it is the school that is taking the piss.

No swans though. They are so tricky to catch.
