It's because the vast majority of people "into crypto" have no interest in the actual underlying asset. They're just hoping to get rich. I honestly think it destroys any potential crypto had. It's a shame because it would be good to have an alternative to credit cards for digital transactions, and especially to have a push payment method, as opposed to the pull method used by banks and credit cards

Generally, I don't think that applies to high schoolers. They can manage themselves in the morning. We should have their school start last

America also has some deep structural issues that children aren't able to get to school by themselves. In Japan, grade school children are able to get to and from school by themselves in most of the country. In America, parents aren't allowed to leave children unattended, and certainly aren't allowed to let them go to school alone

Gateway drugs are a myth. It was created as propaganda during the beginning of the war on drugs as a way to justifi anti-marijuana campaigns

We know now the real reason was as a way to discredit the hippies protesting the Vietnam war. We no longer need to do that, so let's let the gateway drug myth die off

At least some of the negligence is on Google, for the atrocious default security settings in Firebase

The vulnerability is called hospital gown because they leave the back end wide open by design. It's not even a traditional vulnerability, since it's technically working as intended

I love that apparently no one in the comments actually wanted to listen to the clip. I only came to the comments to find someone quoting him because I don't want to listen to his voice either

Here is what he said:

"I run into everybody in New York. I mean, I knew Harvey Weinstein, I knew Roger Ailes, I knew- OJ Simpson came to my house. Bill Cosby came to my house."

His excuse is he hangs out with a lot of rapists

We really need a push based payment system. It's absurd someone can take money from you simply by knowing your credit card or bank numbers

Or, even worse: At the whims of the president

It would be a convenient way to bypass having to pass legislation, allowing more consolidation of power in the executive branch

It will primarily depend on the venue. Ticketmaster/Live Nation managed venues will be far more expensive, and they now operate ticket sales for basically all of them

Many are for now. Long-term I don't expect any company will accept lower profits. Means a whole lot of that tariff inflation is still looming for the consumer

[–] Taldan@lemmy.world 3 points 4 days ago

This isn't yet factoring in tariff inflation. Most compabies have been temporarily eating most of the tariff taxes. We're going to get a whole lot more inflation in the next year or two, if the tariffs stick around

Plenty of people got fucked over for America's interstate system. You just don't care about them because they're poor minorities
