only the person in question can decide that, and the person in question can't be consulted anymore. Was the person in drag, or was the person trans? We can't know. The person committed suicide because reactionaries targeted a private part of their life. They were outed but what precisely they were outed as is impossible to know, since both people who dress in drag and trans people are targeted by reactionary violence, either explanation can serve to explain the suicide. Maybe more details will come forward in the form of a note, etc. Maybe not.

Women wearing slightly more clothes in video games:

Some thoughts.

  1. in reality, that wasn't done to appease feminists as a political force, but as a consumer base. reactionaries always confuse the commodification of leftist ideas with leftist hegemony. They think capitalists trying to make money from non-reactionary consumers is the same as the left controlling society itself.

  2. The kinds of things Sarkeesian criticized were barely changed, and to the extent that they were, the fanbase reacted twice as rabidly. For every triangle of cleavage that was covered up on a character in the official release, horny modders (sometimes secretly developers working with assets they took home from work) made 3 different fully nude models.

  3. the gamers who believe so deeply in capitalism and "voting with your dollar" will openly complain about the "wokification" of games they pirated, and then wonder why the capitalists are catering to the demographics that are still buying it instead.

libs be like: You can change the system from the inside!

also libs: I couldn't change the system from the inside, so I'm surrendering what little power I have, in "protest", by resigning! I will be replaced by Holden Bloodfeast but at least I "spoke up!"

Maybe Keffals is against Palestinian genocide, or maybe not, but without context, who knows.

the context is keffals is a canadian anticommunist grifter who makes big streambucks in her cozy imperial core dwelling built on top of the bones of indigenous canadians

[–] Tachanka@hexbear.net 6 points 2 years ago

Is Keffals doing that though?

there's a good quote from Trotsky (yes, bare with me) about how liberals disavow the French revolution and Marxists are the true inheritors of that struggle's legacy.

The Great French Revolution was indeed a national revolution. And what is more, within the national framework, the world struggle of the bourgeoisie for domination, for power, and for undivided triumph found its classical expression.

Jacobinism is now a term of reproach on the lips of all liberal wiseacres. Bourgeois hatred of revolution, its hatred towards the masses, hatred of the force and grandeur of the history that is made in the streets, is concentrated in one cry of indignation and fear – Jacobinism! We, the world army of Communism, have long ago made our historical reckoning with Jacobinism. The whole of the present international proletarian movement was formed and grew strong in the struggle against the traditions of Jacobinism. We subjected its theories to criticism, we exposed its historical limitations, its social contradictoriness, its utopianism, we exposed its phraseology, and broke with its traditions, which for decades had been regarded as the sacred heritage of the revolution.

But we defend Jacobinism against the attacks, the calumny, and the stupid vituperations of anaemic, phlegmatic liberalism. The bourgeoisie has shamefully betrayed all the traditions of its historical youth, and its present hirelings dishonour the graves of its ancestors and scoff at the ashes of their ideals. The proletariat has taken the honour of the revolutionary past of the bourgeoisie under its protection. The proletariat, however radically it may have, in practice, broken with the revolutionary traditions of the bourgeoisie, nevertheless preserves them, as a sacred heritage of great passions, heroism and initiative, and its heart beats in sympathy with the speeches and acts of the Jacobin Convention.

yeah, i agree. saying [marginalized group x] is ALWAYS comrades is just wishful thinking and stereotyping. You always have to be on your toes and never assume people are revolutionary by default just because they're a member of a marginalized group. People say this is "not worth bringing up" or "tone deaf" but that isn't very convincing.

so if you're at the door, and you're in the fur suit, do you assume it's a joke and knock anyway, at the risk of being treated like shit, or do you walk away, having been successfully otherized by the "joke"?
