The apparent bias where he released documents about the Democrats but did not release documents about the Republicans and/or Russians, having received said Democrat documents from the Russians.

Maybe it's a little more nuanced, I dunno. I can't remember all the shit I've read over the years, the freshest stuff is from the comments in these threads.

My guess is that he didn't actually have dirt on the Republicans, as one commenter suggested. Why would Russia provide that, when the supposed goal of Russia was to get their Republican man in the White House?

Then, maybe, he got some other dirt on Russia from somewhere else, but didn't release that. However there could be any number of valid reasons there. I do vaguely remember something about him saying like (my complete paraphrasing) "reporting on Russian corruption isn't of journalistic interest to me, of course Russia and Putin are corrupt."

So yeah, his "apparent biases" raise questions. That doesn't mean those questions can't have valid answers.

But that also doesn't mean the questions are invalid in and of themselves. They should be addressed openly and succintly every time, such that objective truth wins over incessant lies.

The only stupidity here is in your 3 word comment. Try harder.

Yeah but antivirus software doesn't pick up zero days, which is what you should really be concerned about.

I had some Chinese radios a few years ago, they were proper radios that you could program for all sorts of stuff. I had the software on a USB stick, then plugged it in about 5 years later - pinged up with all sorts of viruses that weren't detected previously.

Hmmm you've got me wondering now..

Edit: Apparently there are! TIL: https://bitwarden.com/help/keyboard-shortcuts/

Not sure if they'd work on sites that the pop up box doesn't work on, though. There are a handful where I have no choice but to copy and paste.

The one that makes it sound like the kitchen sink is the headphones, the others pretty clearly paint it as her carelessness, if true. It sounds like she wasn't really paying attention or looking while crossing the road, saw the car and ran. Meanwhile the officer could have also seen her and tried to avoid, unfortunately running into each other, like two people walking towards each other moving the same way to try and avoid.

The article says "appeared" but I think that's less of an uncertainty and more the technical language employed, like how a newspaper calls someone "an alleged criminal". The video itself may be far more clear cut - without seeing that I'd reserve judgement.

74mph in a 25mph sounds excessive, though, especially for a police officer responding to what should be primarily a medical emergency.

Also, this was a police officer responding to an overdose call, I doubt he was going to administer medical assistance.

However it should be said that a 25mph road should really be designed as a 25mph road, with suitable traffic calming measures. Far too many low speed limit roads are big and wide open, practically encouraging people to speed.

Awesome. It's always been a little hit and miss whether the pop up for passwords would show when you click on a text field, and I resent having to drag the mouse all the way to the toolbar to get at them.

Biden isn't committing genocide though, neither is the US. Israel is doing it. The US has prior agreements to support its allies and a vested interest in protecting trade in the area, but it is not actively participating in Israel's genocide. Claiming the US is responsible for Israel's actions is like claiming the US is responsible for Saudi Arabia's blockade and subsequent famine in Yemen, or like claiming NATO is responsible for the war in Ukraine.

It's a common tactic of fascist communist regimes to try and bring the US or NATO into things they're only tangentally related to, when ironically they are no more related than the accusers.

Yes, Biden and the US should be taking a harder stance against Israel, but be careful not to devolve it into fascist talking points.

How much is reddit paying its users? Frankly, the users have a strong case to say that their value has been taken from them unfairly and without consideration.

Yes, Reddit has terms and conditions where they claim full rights to anything you post. However that's not an exchange of data for access to the website, the access to the website is completely free - the fine print is where they claim these rights. These are in fact two transactions, they provide access to the site free of charge, and they sneak in a second transaction where you provide data free of charge. Using this deceptive methodology they obscure the value being exchanged, and today it is very apparent that the user is giving up far more value.

I really think a class action needs to be made to sort all this out. It's obscene that companies (not just reddit, but Google, Facebook and everyone else) can steal value from people and use it to become amongst the wealthiest businesses in the world, without fairly compensating the users that provide all the value they claim for themselves.

The data brokerage industry is already a $400 bn industry - and that's just people buying and selling data. Yet, there are only 8 bn people in the world. If we assume that everyone is on the internet and their data has equal value (both of which are not true, US data is far more valuable) then that would mean that on average a person's data is worth at least $50 a year on the market. This figure also doesn't include companies like Facebook or Google, who keep proprietary data about people and sell advertising, and it doesn't include the value that reddit is selling here - it's just the trading of personal data.

We are all being robbed. It's like that classic case of bank fraud where the criminal takes pennies out of peoples' accounts, hoping they won't notice and the bank will think it's an error. Do it to enough people and enough times and you can make millions. They take data from everyone and they make billions.

It really bugs me that YouTube have started adding tracking to the end of their links recently https://youtu.be/5CXeHk9W-iw

The rape allegations do seem to be farcical, but I don't think he should be in prison for releasing classified material - it's not like he hacked the Pentagon to get it.

However his apparent biases definitely do raise questions and point towards other issues.
