That forest hasn't been there long apparently. Most forests in Scotland are just monoculture tree farms.

Yeah but the issue is you're constantly paying tax on something. If you have money in the bank, then that's going to devalue anyway through inflation, yet it will devalue even more with this. There would need to be a very high threshold for the tax to start to prevent it from being unfair. There's also the issue that the value of wealth can be somewhat subjective - how much would you tax someone for owning an expensive piece of art, how would you measure the value in between sales?

Wealth tax is arguably better than income tax, as encouraging spending is generally a good thing (you won't get taxed on wealth if you don't hang onto it) but the main focus of tax should be on capital gains when the value is actually realised. I think it would be far better to close all the loopholes and simplify the capital gains tax system than to introduce a new wealth tax. That, and addressing money being moved overseas, which is where a lot of wealth will end up hidden if wealth tax becomes the target.

Is that the truth though, or are they saying that out of fear for what might happen to their husbands?

Unfortunately their statements should be taken with a pinch of salt, both of their husbands are still in captivity.

There is some likelihood, however it shouldn't be understated how well Hamas were prepared. They blew up cell towers in the area using small drones, which was a single point of failure in the early warning system, and sniped the Israeli guards in their towers. Israel was also distracted by an attack in the West Bank immediately prior, and many in the air force had been on strike over Netanyahu's actions with reservists stating they would refuse to answer if called up. Many of the active forces were on holiday, so everything was left with a skeleton crew.

Equally, Hamas' preparations were known about well in advance - they trained attacking mock Israeli villages in Gaza, right in sight of Israel. It was also the 50th anniversary of the last time Palestinians attacked Israel on the Yom Kippur holiday. The fact that there wasn't heightened security is absolutely a failure on Netanyahu's part.

The Senator, pulled away by police with his pants round his ankles, "Hey, I thought this was America?!"

~~It's a propaganda rag by the Daily Mail, good riddance.~~

Edit: I was mistaken, I confused it with the Metro in the UK, which is owned by the Daily Mail.

The Heimlich maneuver isn't actually the go-to technique anymore, firm smacks on the back are generally more effective. You lean them forward, support their chest with one arm and give up to 5 sharp blows between their shoulder blades with the heel of your hand. If that doesn't work, try the Heimlich, if that also doesn't work call an ambulance.

Here's the full NHS advice.

But is that because you're Gith or Selune?

The full article is definitely worth a read. The author says that his original article was giving the artist praise, and also mentions that he probably got to where he was without having anyone criticise him.

There is a strong likelihood that Iran was behind Hamas' attack on 7 October, so it's not like the US are the ones escalating here.
