We're about to elect our own mini Trump? News to me. Sounds like fear mongering. Gunna need a source on that.

Level headed take gets downvotes. Classic Lemmy.

Regardless of how people feel about the above posters opinion, it's a valid opinion, and people should engage in an open minded discussion instead of knee-jerk downvoting.

As a community, we're better than that.

Also listen to that other dude in this thread that mentioned dental hygiene. That's bangin' advice.

Here's my highly specific (hypocritical) advice:

Don't take advice from Reddit or Lemmy on any important matter. You don't know these people, and they don't know you. Some people have good ideas. Most don't. The ability to think for yourself and determine what's best for you is the best skill you can have. A review from Lemmy or Reddit on a product is fine. Life advice from internet strangers is almost always garbage.

Here's some more highly specific meta advice: Change your socks every day. What the fuck people..

The stark reality is regardless of how vigilant you are in not supporting billionaires, you need to survive, and the money you spend achieving that will inevitably go to them in some amount.

I think the most realistic thing people can do is pressure politicians to change the legislature so that billionaires can't even exist. Sadly, the billionaires buy the politicians. When we have an answer to solving that issue, then maybe we can see real change as a society, but the longer we wait, the harder it is to force the change, and the elites become an ever increasing power, while the working class inversely loses power.

Isn't this stuff Trump also wants?

It'll largely be an echo chamber regardless of size. The fediverse tends to lean into tech, and is very left wing. If you don't fit the bill, you are either driven off, de-federated with, or realize the content posted here isn't what you're looking for, and you leave.

I don't mind the small knit community, as I agree with most stuff, but this simply isn't a place you can host competing ideas, or at least not feasibly. This isn't a place for open discussion. You get down voted for your opinion, even if it is a shitty one. This isn't the fediverse I want to see. I want to see people upvoted for their opinion, and enticed to engage with whatever discourse is present, regardless of views. Downvotes should be reserved for trolls, bots, and fascists. Everyone else should be welcome.

Frostpunk. That game gave me anxiety with the tough choices sometimes.

I think landlords is kind of blanket statement. I think most rational people aren't blaming the landlords who own a single family home and rent the basement suite. I think it's more referred to companies gobbling up single family homes and rent gouging their tenants.

This is also Lemmy, so, you know, fuck cars, fuck trucks, fuck landlords, fuck Windows, fuck Google, fuck conservatives, fuck you, fuck me, etc etc

Got covid at least 3 times, maybe more. All 3 were pretty minor. Was pretty much couch ridden for 5 days during one of the illnesses, but could still talk and cook and clean and whatever. It was just hard. The other 2 could have been mistaken for minor colds.

Other than that, no long term effects. My girlfriend also had it and she states her eyesight has taken a nosedive since. Possibly related, possibly not.

I've got the first 2 mandatory (for work) vaccines in Canada, but nothing since.
