Ed himself often references this photo on his podcasts, and how different things could have been if he could eat a bacon sandwich normally

I see a lot of your comments about F being objectively same or better compared to G. The only thing I'd throw into the mix is the socket switch feels so logical, I'm really surprised it's not more standard.

High frequency use case: I don't need my microwave on all the time showing me the time, so I switch it off at the socket unless I'm using it

Low frequency use case: before going on holiday I switch all the electrics off at the sockets

Wold, an area of high, open lands, esp. in the UK

Does anyone have a link to a list of who? Want to see if my MP is on there

It's not working, no matter how I hold my phone I can't see myself in it...

For those equally as ignorant as me!

When my board games group come over, we move my drop leaf kitchen table to the living room where there is more space, and expand it to full size, which is about 780mm x 1200mm. We get a game out and start to set up...

At that point, the two people on the short edges start to complain that they don't have enough room, their stuff overhangs the table etc etc.

3 solutions have occurred to me so far:

  1. Get new friends. Possible but takes time and there's no guarantee that new friends won't also complain
  2. Buy a new table. I've looked at UK based shops for drop leaf tables but the ones that give more space won't fit through doors
  3. Make a table topper to sit on top of the kitchen table and provide a larger surface

Number 3 is clearly the one I've brought here because although it's a grand idea I'm not sure how to go about it.

Material

It's games night, there's drinks involved. Something that doesn't mind a bit of water seems like an idea, maybe moisture resistant MDF? Not too expensive, easy to get hold of. Thickness 18mm so there's no flex?

Size

Not too big but clearly needs to be bigger than the table it's covering, probably 1000mm x 1220mm

Top

I was thinking about tacking felt to the top for a proper gaming surface, is that sensible or overkill

Fixing

The tricky bit, I don't want it to slide about on top of the table when we're playing and someone leans on it. Equally the kitchen table spends 99% of it's time being just that so I don't want to drill into it on the top. Will non-slip mat be enough or do I need clamps/hooks/bolts?

Any ideas from the hive mind gratefully received!

Okay so I'm not really sure how to describe this, I use graphene and ente for my photos which works great. On my phone, when I go into Signal or WhatsApp and try to attach a photo, I don't get ente as an option for where to get photos from so I can't get to my gallery in that way.

Is there a thing I need to do to tell the os that ente is the place for photos?

Thanks!

I'm going travelling in a week or two and decided to dig out my old Canon 350D dslr, from the early days of consumer digital cameras before the rise of the smartphone.

It's definitely older than I remember, although maybe so am I! 8 mega pixel, with a 512Mb compact flash card.

On the other hand, I have a perfectly serviceable OnePlus 7T, obviously newer, not cutting edge any more but fine.

What do people think? Go retro or stick to the modern?

There's an app in trying to use, BP pulse, it keeps telling me I need to enable location services and it won't work without it. The thing is that my phone (8 Pro) already has location services switched on, and assigned to this app at the fine detail level. I assume the app is looking for something else but I don't know what.

How do I go about an investigation?

Thanks!

I'm thinking this should be marked NSFW...

This just started happening today so probably something I've changed in the settings but I don't know what. Whenever I take a "back" action, the phone keyboard pops up. This is true if I swipe on my phone (system default action), or press back in the top left of the screen.

I've tried toggling the swipe to go back in the settings but it doesn't seem to impact this one.

Any ideas gratefully received, it's quite annoying

Is this NSFW? It feels like this might be NSFW.

Well okay then

Misaligned jump off a cliff in my explorer. Can't drive it out, guess I'll be falling!

From a live Renault app, I'm always amazed the car companies' apps are so bad, it's not like they're short of a bob or two to spend on getting it right.

I know this community is not strongly in use but... I find the linked letter to be helpful to me when times out in the world get difficult. It's odd, because the message is quite religious and I'm staunchly agnostic.

Yet, I urge you, ask you, gentle you, to please not spend your spirit dry by bewailing these difficult times. Especially do not lose hope.

It always works for me, hopefully it might work for someone else out there.

Okay so I totally failed to put the dough in the fridge overnight, these might not quite be as intended but they're okay!
