the irony is that LLMs are basically just calculators, horrendously complex calculators that operate purely on statistics..

the only thing i've seen it do that is actually helpful is duckduckgo's summary thing, because it has to actually pull the text from a whitelist of sources and thus is very unlikely to just make things up

but even then i'd only use it for pretty simple things like "what's the total population of these cities", so that i can then click the sources it lists and check that everything seems sensible, trusting the answer without at least a quick sanity check is insane

genuinely at what point do teachers just give up? it's not like they're able/allowed to teach kids important things in the US anymore anyways

fuck it, go out with a bang, teach the kids the horrors of capitalism and outright tell them to be socialists, then move to another state

i love how inflation is just always magically a reason for companies to charge arbitrarily large sums for their products, how the hell do you people think people are supposed to afford things?

seriously, if everything just constantly increases in cost, how precisely do you envision the economy functioning?

like, i get not being good at using punctuation so you just end up typing massive run on sentences or, like, constantly using, commas.. or overusing the.. uh.. what´s it called.. ellipsis..

but holy shit HOW HOW HOW do these people end up thinking THIS , makes any ,, sort of sense,,,;;;,,,;;;;;,:;.;.,:;.;:;.,:;:;:;:-----_'-'--¨'̈́̈́̈́̈́'̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́̈́....:::.:....:::.

in what fucking country, what fucking culture, is this shit actually seen as normal? the most i've seen being used as standard is like, french putting a space before question marks for some reason, and chinese or whatever sometimes using some slightly funky punctuation, but i've never found a culture that genuinely treats this shit;;; as normal

like.. do people not read things? how the fuck does one end up thinking no one is going to find that punctuation usage strange?

cope and seethe, maybe get a moped so you can nimbly get around them?

aside from harvesting stuff from the seafloor i can't think of any situation where holding your breath for more than 5 minutes is particularly helpful

but on the flipside being able to hold my breath for 5 minutes would be real neat

you're thinking of like, being choked, i presume. the difference is that choking directly cuts off bloodflow to the brain, but if the bloodflow isn't disturbed then there's a decent bit of oxygen stored in the air in the lungs and in the blood itself.

this is how animals like whales can dive for hours at a time, they store oxygen in their blood.

The thing that actually makes you feel the need to take a breath is buildup of CO2, not lack of oxygen. My understanding is that holding your breath isn't really about the amount of oxygen you have but rather how long you can resist the urge to breathe, though presumably at these extremes they do have to pay attention to how they feel and abort if they start feeling tired or whatever low oxygen does to you.
