I don't know about the rest of the world but in the UK text messages used to cost 10p for each one you send. Multimedia messages were like 40p. Really expensive. WhatsApp came about and made both of these free. The rest is history.
Ironically, SMS are generally free these days but nobody obviously uses them. My SMS app is just full of OTP codes being sent to me.

I really like Training Day. Although I'm tempted to say Hot Fuzz now. Hot Fuzz has so many small things in it that each time I watch it there's something new.
I went through changing a variety of sites recently. That was 300+ sites. It took a few days (not nonstop) and I am still not finished. For the majority of sites it's straight forward but for some they don't let you change your email address without contacting support. I've also had some that just don't let you change at all. For those I have requested deletions. I still have sites waiting to be swapped and others deleted. I've been waiting since February.
Honestly my best advice for anyone looking to do this is to look at using at least one alias. Ideally an alias per site (which I have been doing). That way my email address on sites will never need to be changed again but I am now free to move mailbox providers (which this week I pointed all my aliases to fastmail as I am looking to get away from Google's Gmail). That move took 5 seconds.

This community is very much a "Windows bad" community. I personally find that annoying as I use Windows and Linux. Both have their pros and cons. Windows though is seen here as the shitest OS out there which far from the truth.
PowerShell is amazing and I install it on my Linux desktop.

SMS is the same in the UK these days. Free. MMS isn't though. They still like to scam the older users who know no better.
