This works but has a number of downsides.

Eg hackers just have to remove the +portion to have your email address. You also can't send emails out via any of those addresses.

That's always been my argument. Updates for the OS or even apps in Google Play should be presented immediately if the user is doing a manual check for updates. Sure, continue the staged rollouts, but only for those who are updating automatically.

The check for updates button has been working fine for a few years now but as of this month my Pixel 8 is still on the November patch. My wife's Pixel 6 is on the December patch after I did a manual check on her phone. Frustrating.

Invest some time in transferring to a new email address but also an email alias service. That way you never give out your new email address to anyone and give each site/service you use its own alias.

If they do that people won't turn it on. They rely on people to not read things.

I wish someone (EU) would step in and force companies to make data collection settings be opt in rather than opt out.

What happened to the ad blocker detection thing a month ago. Did Google remove it or does uBlock Origin have a permanent workaround now rather than needing to clear cache and reload?

It blows my mind every time I see Stardew Valley. Singlehandedly wrote the story, characters, the music, effects, coded the game etc. Simply stunning.

Ooo. I'm quite into policing programmes. This and Forensics: The Real CSI are two really interesting.

I didn't know there was a new series. Thanks for the heads-up.

Me either. Not that I'm advocating this BS practice!

I've been using PiHole for years but just switched to NextDNS. Mainly because I use DNS to filter adult sites for my kids. NextDNS works regardless of the network they are on. I used to block YouTube etc at night but if we're are on holiday they get no filter.

I switched to AD Guard (at home) now as I can configure DNS over TLS for devices that only support regular DNS. So for example my kids TV talks to AD Guard and then AD Guard looks at the MAC address and sends it down a specific DNS over TLS address. So that TV gets the filters of my kids NextDNS profile.

I run Docker containers on a Pi 4 using the RPi OS. For the longest time I've been using Plex. I wanted to give Jellyfin a go though, so just created a new compose file and mounted my TV/Movies directories. Other than the first time setup of Jellyfin I don't touch it now. Plex and Jellyfin run side by side. To update I just do a docker-compose pull every so often. Super simple.
