I stick to 264 for the same reason. I'm happy running Plex from my Pi4. Multiple streams are fine to devices around the home.
Also streams fine on my phone when external.
I don't think the 5 has any hardware for encoding
The UK version is also in Aus. Makes sense as it's aired in the UK winter so summer time in Australia. They sleep outside.
Reading up online it was originally a UK show but now also done in United States, Germany, France, Hungary, Sweden, the Netherlands, Denmark, Romania, Russia, Australia and India.
In a world where we should be using less packaging this sort of practice just increases more waste.
