There is a video going around twitter where a Japanese historian criticizes the US for the atom bombings and not admitting they were war crimes, and by far the least racist common response is "it's hypocritical for Japan to be saying this". Like, Jesus Christ, that is not "Japan" speaking to you in that video, it's just a Japanese person. I am so tired of Yank chauvinists.

You know what this current global situation needs? A good old-fashioned arms race. What could go wrong?

Fermenting an idea in my mind for two years until I can drop a take about the "dual character of attractiveness" that is completely incomprehensible to anyone but me

This recent thing honestly feels like she is deliberately being inflammatory for attention, some of the things she says in the first video do not make sense to me otherwise.

You could still have weapon variety without the RPG stuff, in fact it kind of limits the variety in a playthrough when over half of the weapons you find are mostly unusable because you are specced into strength instead of dexterity. I don't think anyone has ever looked at the armor stats in those games.

It's interesting how most souls-likes are RPGs, those two genres seem to not fit together very well. I think Elden Ring being a larger game made this contradiction pretty visible and I wouldn't be surprised if the genre shifts to a more adventure or maybe even JRPG direction.

It's a game with some real friction, it could honestly come out today and still feel subversive

Very unrelatable gripe: I am so tired of people treating realism as an opposite of aesthetic values, as if it was some default perspective and not an aesthetic value in and of itself

Under communism, Hexbear would be abolished to redirect the resources to a more productive activity, like making Lenin Funko Pops
