This bastard will never get the justice he deserves.

A good but unsurprising list. That said, the article begins poorly (my emphasis):

Utopia is the state of a civilization’s peace and prosperity that seems impossible to realize in real life, and it is the backdrop for many great works of science fiction like the “Star Trek” media franchise.

I’d say there are startlingly few utopian SF settings or societies. Early Star Trek certainly counts, though more recently it returns to a more cynical sort of stealth capitalist/corporatist framework (Picard). Apart from Banks’ The Culture books I can’t recall any recent genuinely SF utopian visions—can you think of any?

I’ve always thought it curious that Force users don’t fly. I mean if you can levitate an X-Wing surely you can levitate yourself all over the place. I imagine it’s simply a narrative choice to avoid Star Wars taking on super hero trappings.

I use Reeder on iOS and have for yonks. I was using it with Feed Wrangler (for synchronisation) until it folded and then I just imported my feeds into Reeder directly so it syncs across all of my devices.

The loss of Google Reader was a blow to RSS but it’s never gone away and a great way of getting your news and information.

I think Brink was game that killed my naive trust in the hype machine. So much anticipation, so much desperation to enjoy it, so much disappointment. From there on I only believed the hyperbole from proven developers but eventually Destiny killed even that. Now I’m a bitter shell of a gamer who lives by the creed, “never pre-order!”

I don’t see any darker-skinned actors playing good guys

Are you forgetting Salvor Hardin, played by Leah Harvey?

Not any Tolkiens neither.

It’s disgusting. It reminds me of how backwards Queensland was in the Joh years.

… you have to turn off some extra security settings on your Apple ID, and you have to give Beeper your password just once.

If they’re using Apple’s app-specific passwords feature then that’s workable but if it’s your master Apple ID password, no way.

Man, that thing is hideous.

I use it constantly in city and rural areas and find it works pretty well for me.

I just can’t imagine what circumstances would induce someone to commit such an horrific act on such a blameless child.
