The average westerner believes they have a higher quality of life than the average Chinese citizen, but that's slowly changing I think.

restaurants cost 2x what they did earlier in my lifetime, rent probably 3x. I remember learning about career options in highschool that essentially stopped existing less than a decade later. I'm not that old. How fast is slow suppose to be?

in historical context would have been in response to European Imperialism, the US's stance at the time known as the Monroe Doctrine.

Why not enact change locally in your community first

Then the government knows what I look like and will be able to plan around my existence. Most national security policies assume cartoonishly massive human waves coming out of nowhere are not possible. The element of surprise and the rush attack is key to victory. Revealing that I have this power without conquering the planet ensures instead that I get kidnapped and get experimented with in a secret bunker.
