I kind of feel like an asshole nerd. I only want to watch DUNC 3 to see if it pisses off the fans of DUNC 1 & 2 who misunderstood them.

Is this even anatomically possible? (No, I won't try this at home!)

Was this the energy source Nikola Tesla was talking about?

My 1070 is getting old, and I need to replace my main rendering PC in 2026. But until then, I'd like to render something overnight instead of over 10 nights.

Mastodon itself uses the Web Share API to share its posts. But this is only practical for mobile because most users don't have all the apps installed on the desktop. IMHO.

Is there even a good-practice way to find out if the user visits the site via desktop or mobile browser?

Heute ist (noch) der dritte Weihnachtsfeiertag.

After you use the “Share on Mastodon” feature, you leave the PieFed instance, and there's the Mastodon instance in the browser.

I'm not sure what Mastodon could do against this. Maybe a source URL parameter to redirect back? But this could potentially get misused.

Mastodon's share UI looks so minimal. Could it be that it should be used in a window or IFRAME?

Why would she say that? And what is the boy carrying?

Treets could be a nice alternative to M&Ms. It was once a product by Mars but is now a trademark of Katjes Fassin GmbH + Co. KG, Germany.

At the supermarket, they even have versions with non-plastic packaging.

Not everybody reads the news or is online a lot.

Somehow I'm now reminded of a German Kabarett show that was once cut from broadcasting into the German state from which Trump's grandfather once fled because he was a draft dodger.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scheibenwischer#Political_scandals

People old enough still remember the censorship scandal of 1986.

The same broadcaster didn't play a popular German song on the radio in the 1960s because the refrain's grammar was wrong.

I feel there's not enough regulation around imaginary money.

Frank Herbert lied??

I'm using the markdown editor GUI on PieFed.

A comment I wrote looked OK on PieFed, despite me having doubts because I didn't add spaces at the end of lines to force line breaks.

Today I saw it in Mlem, and line breaks were as expected, not as I've seen them on the PieFed web UI. On Lemmy, they are the same as in Mlem.

Mlem shows it like Lemmy. No screenshot necessary.

Summary: In Markdown, you need to add 2 or more spaces at the end of a line to force a line break. I didn't do that. A client app and a Lemmy instance show the text correct without a line break. PieFed adds a line break.

Update: I'm terribly sorry for using the word “standard” in a non-standard way. I mean this: https://daringfireball.net/projects/markdown/syntax#p

Update 2: Created issue #1524.

I verified one over 3 years ago, and all went well. But after adding a new link, nothing happens. Tried to trigger the process again 3 days ago.

Question: Have you verified a profile link in the last few days/weeks on mastodon.social?

Today I deleted a post. I got asked for a reason, gave it, and continued. It then redirected back to the post, which was gone now. PieFed.zip has no 404 page configured, so it just showed the text not found.

(As it was my first post here, my post counter was reduced to -1. But comment and post counters probably get fuzzied because of bots.)

PieFed 1.4.0-dev

This account, on the original page, has changed the avatar, banner, and bio: https://discuss.tchncs.de/u/stefan_s_from_h

When I see it through the eyes of other Lemmy instances, the change arrived (just not a small text change a few hours ago):
https://lemmy.zip/u/stefan_s_from_h@discuss.tchncs.de
https://lemmy.world/u/stefan_s_from_h@discuss.tchncs.de

On PieFed, it still has the old content:
https://piefed.zip/u/stefan_s_from_h@discuss.tchncs.de
https://piefed.social/u/stefan_s_from_h@discuss.tchncs.de

Do changes just propagate slower, or is there a problem?
