I feel this particular protest worked very well!
reddirt made concessions, like exempting mod tools, and maybe even something for visually impaired people? But mostly it gave the fediverse a nice boost. Many people moved.
I wish climate protests had so much result in so little time with so little effort.

Some reported that edited/deleted posts/comments reverted back 'by themselves'. I'm not sure wether that's reddit restoring "their content", or wether it's because some content was locked in blackout subreddits at the time of editing/deleting. Either way, it's probably good to check again after a few days and repeat the process.
My comments are partially edited, partially original. Will plow them again tomorrow.

If you found a community, for example via https://browse.feddit.de/, but get a 404 error when visiting it:
Try searching for the community with a bang prefixed: !nostupidquestions@lemmy.world
This will "discover" the community for your instance. When coming from a big instance like lemmy.world this is probably rarely necessary. Only one lemming has to discover a remote community to unlock it for all other lemmings on the same instance.
But someone has to be the first, and that lemming must bang it.

Da würden wohl eher nur vorteilhafte Bilder genommen werden. Die Hersteller wollen ihre Produkte ja verkaufen, nicht abschrecken. Ähnlich, wie die Bilder in Restaurants und Kiosken auch nicht unbedingt den Durchschnitt, und wahrscheinlich nicht die schlimmsten Ausreißer darstellen, sondern eben die fotoreife Version, wenn's überhaupt aus der eigenen Küche kommt.
was die weitere Strategie angeht scheint mir ein moralistisches “Esst kein Fleisch” allerdings dann doch nicht optimal zielführend.

Das macht für mich keinen Unterschied. Auch Insekten sind Tiere, die Leid und Emotionen empfinden können. Und da Veganer (zumindest laut Definition der Vegan Society) darauf bedacht sind, tierisches Leid so weit wie möglich zu verhindern, lehne ich das ab.
Insekten sind halt schon erheblich andere Tiere als die Säugetiere, die wir so essen. Dabei geht's mir gar nicht mal um "höher entwickelt" oder "menschenähnliche Emotionen".
Für viele Insekten ist es völlig normal, in großer Zahl aufeinander herumzuwuseln. Das wäre quasi artgerechte Haltung. Insofern scheinen sie doch, zumindest erst mal, deutlich kompatibler zu sein mit der bei uns so beliebten Massentierhaltung.
Dass diese Bedingungen für Säugetiere, die normalerweise nicht so leben, Stress und Leid bedeuten, leuchtet ein. Aber für Insekten, die ohne menschliches Zutun unter ähnlichen Umständen leben, ist das nicht so offensichtlich.

This can be found in https://lemmy.world/modlog, not in https://lemmy.ml/modlog. OP mistakenly thought it was the instance of the community who did it, but it's the home instance of OP who did this.
You're right, situations can occur. But it's not a permanent thing. People can make another new account on an instance which they deem suitable after they have familiarized themselves with lemmy by spending some days or weeks in it. Expecting a bloody newcomer to choose a good instance isn't so far from random choice anyways.
Also tbh, I have little to no interactions with people from my instance. I subscribe to topics I care for regardless of where they are hosted. People like me would hardly notice they share a server with nazis, as each would flock to different communities.

Einerseits sind das Lösungen für andere Probleme. Andererseits ist meine Fähigkeit, mich für Erbschaftssteuer, Grundeinkommen und Generalstreik (EGG) einzusetzen doch nicht davon abhängig, wie viel Fleisch ich esse?
Dann frage ich mich ... was ist denn die treibende Motivation hinter EGG? Ich vermute mal, grob gesagt ein "schlechtes vermeiden, Welt etwas verbessern". Die gleiche Motivation kannst du auch nehmen, und selbstwirksam weniger Fleisch essen.
