What's more interesting about this to me is... This man writes novels. I've always experienced fiction as a "Movie in my head" kind of experience. When I get really into a book, the world around me falls away, and I feel very literally in the narrative.
So how does one experience a novel, if they can't visualize the story in their mind?
Yeah that's uh... Not what this feels like to me.
If he followed that up with "And that's why I never step foot in the kitchen and make my wife to it for me" then yeah ok. But that's not what's being said.
In the context of the initial tweet about the inability to visualize things in ones own head, I this tweet makes perfect sense. "I have x experience. It leads to y problem".
Gives me big time never puts the dishes away energy.
Ngl, I think you're just reading your own unrelated grievances into a tweet, cuz you dislike the guy for being a lib.
Edit: I also love the reply where someone links a study that he may have OCD, a serious mental health issue. His response: wow
Doesn't he actually have OCD? That feels like a "No shit Sherlock" kind of response.
Did you read the post you responded to? You can't just let them exist, when the predator species you're talking about still actively needs help to rebound. In the meantime, human deer hunting, for all of the garbage culture that surrounds it, fills the lacking ecological niche that was historically filled by predators who's habitat we've largely destroyed
A Nazi can choose to not be a Nazi and be spared from defensive, anti fascist, violence. But the people who need protection from offensive Nazi violence: people of color, queer people, Jewish people, etc. Can not change the immutable characteristics that make them "undesirable" and therefore worthy of extermination by Nazis.
All Violence is not equivalent. You punching me in the face is not the same thing as me punching back in retaliation.
Definitely! How can you not think these little tricks are cool! Are G*mers really upset by this?

The Queer liberation movement has long been spearheaded by communists. Harry Hay, Sylvia Rivera, Rudolf Klimmer, and many others, were all communists who, in some form or another pushed forward the cause of queer liberation.
-
On the whole, Socialist states in the 20th century were no better or worse on queer issues than any liberal democracy. We were treated like shit pretty much everywhere. They were not special in this regard.
-
A notable exception was East Germany, which, though not without flaws, had a far better queer rights track record than its Western capitalist counterpart:
The HIB (Homosexuelle Interessengemeinschaft Berlin) was established in 1973 with the belief that ‘homosexual emancipation is part of the success of socialism'.
Was? Unless I missed something, you're talking like he's already dead
The USA did not kidnap those kids. They were typically orphans as a result of the wars but hey don't ket nuance get in the way.
So if I shoot at random people on the street, and kill you, and decide your baby is cute and I want it. It's not kidnapping, because that was just an orphan bro, that baby's parents were dead.
Nah, if country A precipitates a war on Country B, people die, and then you started adopting their orphaned children out, back to County A, and not within their county of origin... That feels an awful lot like kidnapping. In fact, it feels an awful lot like the definition of genocide
My local Kroger did this, and it's gonna turn me into the Unabomber, I stg
I'm gonna put on my political scientist hat, and point out that almost every political party on this planet enforces internal discipline in a multitilude of ways, a handful of which have been mentioned in this discussion thread already.
The idea that parties are these big tents where you can't possibly enforce any kind of internal discipline is both a uniquely America-brained take, and also not entirely true.
Like, there are literally people called "Party Whips" who's job it is to pressure the party members vote along party lines.
That actually makes more sense to me. My cat clearly has thoughts, ideas, preferences, but she doesn't have words to go with those thoughts. Her inner life is devoid of a monologue.
