this tbh, pets are taken for granted too much. A pet as socially intelligent as a dog or cat should be well taken care of if you've chosen to keep it.

as someone who used to have a pug, it got really fuckin painful for them towards the end. They had to be put down as a mercy just because of how much it hurt to breath after a bit.
I wouldn't kill pets of course, but I feel like a hard ban on continuing the line of such pets who are bred with "looks" over "function as a living being" (such as pugs) is a hard necessity.
Honestly if its a native species killing them, sorry but the surrounding nature is just fighting back.
