That has been my experience. I sometimes hit up the more niche subs for advice and the experience has gone downhill.

It's crazy because I grew up "knowing that's just how things were". I'm brown and my name has way too many vowels, so I knew to keep my head down when the police might be involved. Then I learned that's not the norm everywhere in the world and my mind was blown.
Way back, when I was still on .worId and PJ was newer, I once diffused an argument they wanted to start with me, simply by holding my ground and nicely picking apart their (admittedly bad) arguments. They seemed more interested in winning than what was actually correct and they admitted to having a temper that led to that behavior.
I thought they were an alright person, maybe just immature, until I discovered they had been forcefully arguing the opposite point with another person at the same time. That's when I blocked them.
He was clearly guilty of a DWB.
That's the key. I LOVE explaining things I'm passionate about but it's rude to just go wild on people, so I've developed a process to gauge familiarity and interest.
