Realistically until we can move past religions its not going to stop. When you create constant in groups and out groups you are going to have conflict and blame wars. Until we can view each other as equals and for that to happen either everyone has to be under the same religion or we accept religions were a terrible form of government that need to be abandoned. And then we might just see rampant racism at that point if education is not properly funded and supported following the fall of religions. Then it would be nationalism until we can globally unite, and then still we will run into small groups of uneducated people who will be easily swayed allowing these bullshit issues to propagate again but hopefully not at the same level. Not that it's reassuring but we have massive issues that need to be addressed for this shit to end and as billionaires profit from uneducated laborers, until we get to post scarcity for our species I don't know if it will end.

It's more that you are seeing the f1 equivalent in bikes. They are redesigning these chasis, wheels, etc every year for competitive advantage. Add in all the customizations, being hand made, and using very expensive materials and you get very high prices. It's easier to see the jump in cost because we can actually see those differences in price more readily from the $100 Wal-Mart bike to the 15k bike. How many times do you compare a basic econobox car to an F1 car? That would be insane, one is about utility the other is about pushing performance at all costs for competitive advantage.

I think most people forget when you get these bikes it's like buying an f1 car in motorsports. That 15k bike is probably nearly identical to what the pros are running, like maybe they use a different hand grip or seat but for the most part that's a completely custom chasis, redesigned from the previous year and up to spec to compete in a professional capacity right off the bat.

These bikes are at the same level as what is being used at professional levels. You can always get a cheaper bike if that's not what you are into, but it's like looking at an f1 car and saying it's overkill for the road, well no shit, it's made for the extreme end of the sport. Calling these bikes crazy is like conflating the price of an f1 car to the price of a civic.

It's extremely realistic, humanity makes the most progress when research does not need to create a monetary benefit. It allows us to explore ideas unabated. While these systems need funding we could take a 1% from military spending and invest with government resources. Hence why the mrna vaccines actually progressed so quickly, they were already being researched by the army for quick and rapid treatment of diseases during combat, i.e. just to solve the problem not just to profit from the tech, they lent that research out and gave grants to the corporations who developed and manufactured the covid vaccines. Internet, developed for combat communications not for profit. Most computer innovations came out of the space race, research without a profit motive. The ideas funded by corporate interests revolve around optimizing profit, not progress, which is why we get planned obsolescence, lack of rights to repair, massive healthcare costs needing insurance offsets, etc. I guarantee you can't name an actual positive innovation that was spurred purely for profit and not bastardized in the name of profit from a century old idea people forgot about so the company could attribute genius to its wealthy founders crud copy and paste job.
