An incoherent rant, pls ignoreYes! Fuck, I'm tired of this pseudo deterministic outlook some people seem to have about propaganda! I'm not going to excuse the piece of shit racist, homophobic, transphobic, greedy rat fucks of america, white america especially, because of some vague attribution to material conditions as if that succinctly and neatly justifies every single human interaction down to the individual. It's engineered yes, but so many of these fucks know better - I've lived with them, I've worked with them, deep down they know it. They'll seek out their reinforcing propaganda because they know the system benefits them, even if they're just one rung up from the bottom and kicking down. It's not a matter of the people who buy in having "harder lives" or less privilege, because countless bougie fucks buy into it, god damn. I saw the idea floated that not falling for the propaganda likely indicated that you're privileged like, fuck off entirely with this. Say that to the black, indigenous, all the radicals who've been stomped on and shit on and given nothing for their entire lives and didn't buy in.

smuglord Nuh uh! They're not all Nazis, that redditor with the username /u/KillTheBlacks1488 has a "lib-left" flair! Why do you hate free speech and the marketplace of ideas?

I mean thats a fair reaction, I'm just not 100% sure he consciously decided fo portray the orcs as communists per se, rather than the societal trend towards industrialization and despoiling of nature (though with the depiction of orcs, tropes associated with "collectivist" stereotypes are pretty prevalent......😬).

That said, the link between the orcs and turkish/mongol portrayals is not up for debate lol, that aspect of the depiction is a huge L for JRR.

As for the Jewish part of "Judeo-Bolshevik", weren't the dwarves at least in part influenced by Tolkien's views on jewish culture & language?

Anyway I'm not gonna defend this dead racist nerd any more lol

I assumed he meant the Orcs are the spitting image of the Nazi portrayal of "Judeo-Bolsheviks" as ugly, corrupt, soulless, scheming subhuman hordes, not that Tolkien himself wrote them to be stand ins for Jews or Communists

For sure - the message is the same and the plot isn't harmed in any measurable way, just a kinda pointless/funny concession to the American audience

Second movie is much better about it, though they still refuse to use "jihad" as a term probably for burger reasons (it would send 80-90% of an american audience into a berserk state)
