Most don't need faster internet than 50mbits/s either, doesn't mean you won't like having it. A more reliable and faster wi-fi is always welcome.

Don't misunderstand what a server means, however. Just because something is called a server doesn't mean it's not made for the desktop. It's a technical term that doesn't necessarily relate to networking, it might just relate to stuff like inter-process communication.

However, Wayland is designed for the desktop environment. It's like the main reason why it replaces X11, which was designed for terminals.

The system itself heavily rewards greed.

For a metaphor, you cannot look at people growing up in a cheating and lying home and conclude that it's human nature to lie and cheat all the time. We all grew up in capitalism, but there existed societies where things like greed wasn't rewarded, but shunned, and they were different.

And your last paragraph, well, if change can never happen, why even bother voting? You're just one vote in a million? Why form a union? Why do anything? Why do activism? It's too pessimistic and not how the world works. Movements are very much possible.

"people will always be greedy" is such a lazy response. It's the same as saying "there's no point in trying to prevent violence and murder, because people will always be violent and murder others".

And not all societies worked the way our society does.

Maybe not reward greed for a start

..I still think it's not okay for a 17 year old to marry lmao. You're not even a legal adult yet!

..no?

I know how film is developed now due to curious YouTubers who love connecting technology, but I didn't before then.

There will be plenty of uses for high speed wireless connections once the new mobile networks with big capacities come online. There's pleeeenty of research on the applications.

A huge part of newer mobile network generations is the increased capacity. Faster speeds is effectively the same as more capacity in the towers.

This means that companies could actually afford to start offering unlimited data caps, there just has to be the push to do so. But I do genuinely believe that within a decade there will be no more datacaps for mobile data in cities, at least (or at least plenty of plans with unlimited and no throttling). Well, idk about the US considering you got data caps on broadband, but, I'm sure Europe will get it.

People say "fuck the US" all the time and we all know what they mean

Lemmy faces selection bias, of course most people here are more partial towards public transit

But the general public is more mixed, and the technosphere of silicon valley etc very much favours the former.

The nice thing about celcius and kelvin is that they're the same scale, but celcius is just shifted 273.15 units. And it's more intuitive for humans to work with smaller numbers with bigger relative differences. But yes, kelvin would be a lot better to work with, especially considering stuff like doubling temperature (doubling energy) would actually work correctly in kelvin.

But if there's one thing that makes a lot of sense to base temperature enough for human use, I would indeed say it's water, because all life uses water, we are completely surrounded by it, and it's super important to nearly everything we do too.
