Reminds me a little of this short text adventure https://direkris.itch.io/you-are-jeff-bezos

Deadlock isn't as bad but god, the amount of racist, bigoted, and straight up fucked up things people have said are tiring and enough for me to never want to be on a mic

There's only so many times you bother listening to someone yelling at their teammates, throwing out slurs, or even telling people

CWto get raped

Before you just start considering perma muting everyone

I presume it's due to African American Vernacular English (AAVE), there is a cultural aspect there that is detectable through voice

Then again, it's not exactly trivial to solve the traveling salesman problem, not to mention all the real world considerations on top such as gathering everything to a central/sorting facility, last mile delivery, packing and unpacking, avoiding traffic/collisions (If applicable), errors, unpredictable circumstances, and so on

I'm sure improvements could made, buuut it's a tough problem for sure, and it's more important that something gets where it should at some point, than it getting there quicker

I'm just really tired of telling people about the obvious, and every time history keeps repeating

I don't believe it's just convenience, it's as you said, people don't care about the long term. In anything.

A big corporate platform (or whatever else, like, say, oil companies vs climate protesters) will always have more resources, whether it's for development or marketing, so people will always have to be a bit willing to not have full convenience for a better world

If we don't think about the long term, what are we even thinking of instead?

I mean, the thing that people watch twitch for is mainly the person/people on the stream, the game is a backdrop, rarely the actual focus

And not everyone is ego-centric like you're saying? I mean, there's literally tens of thousands of streamers. Don't just look at the biggest ones that probably mainly appeal to kids, i.e. a different audience than you. Chances are the kind of people you would enjoy watching are just smaller and more niche

Okay then, hope people won't complain when things go to shit again

Just forever on march towards the inevitable due to convenience

Until you need to verify if the computer understood and solved the problem properly

It's like, sure, a calculator can help you solve equations.. but what is the proper equation for the situation?

This is also just neglecting the value that the rest provide

For example, what about the people who make the farming machines? And then to take it further what about them making software for it? What about the people making software to make software? What about the ones making the parts to make the machines? And so on

We don't live in a vacuum anymore. You don't do farming with just a few simple tools, and farmers aren't self sufficient, they participate in society and use all the other society stuff too

Trying to weight voted by provided value gets super complicated and messy fast, especially if you start including stuff like disabilities and such. Is this really the way to go?

You're misunderstanding the statement. It's not a statement about language exactly, it's a statement about what medicine is

Medicine is, among other things, traditional medicine that has been studied and proven to work

Even when a tire blows? Or your transmission gets old?
