And was it wrong to respond with violence back?

Take another example then, if you'd prefer. Was it wrong for anti-fascists to be violent against nazi Germany in the pre-war period?

My point was that the context was about age of consent laws. I believe stallman backtracked afterwards a little, but he also has a history of skeevy behaviour, so I don't know how much benefit of the doubt he should be given

Either way, the point was more regarding the whole "this is the hill you're willing to die on?", he could have just kept his mouth shut

I'm not really invested in the conversation regarding stallman, there are a couple of other additional reasons why I'm uncertain about him, but I leave this stuff to the organizations and the people affected. I just tried providing more context for the whole thing surrounding stallman, and why this stuff is not baseless

Would you say the same about the civil war to end slavery? It's not always as simple as "violence = terrorism & bad" as you make it or to be

You're being very uncharitable to people who have done this for most of their lives and likely are perfectly aware of the limitations

Not to mention it's very likely to lead to problems down the line if you ban discussion and don't work out problems

Take for example antivax stuff or thinking doctors are in for a conspiracy or something. That can directly lead to someone's death. You do not want that to happen

Or social issues like regarding queer people, what if someone's child realizes they're queer? Then it's going to blow up again anyway, and the child will suffer

And so on

In my experience it's much easier to be a similar "perfect" in the long run. My parents were shit and they're forever miserable, because they're not willing to do the hard work for happiness. Meanwhile I've been at it regarding the hard work and, sure, while exhausting, I feel far better for it and it feels so much more sustainable.

I could go on and elaborate but idk if that's too necessary

I can't imagine anyone disliking him in prison. He did nothing that could be deemed immoral if you're already breaking laws, and most of the prison population are victims of the system

I also want to clarify, we can create asymmetrical encryption algorithms that are quantum resistant but not quantum themselves

Quantum encryption probably won't be in mass use anytime soon, but for extra sensitive applications

I've seen a lot of articles that were like "scientists do this!!" And never link to the actual study (not including this article)

What happened to citing your sources?

From what I could find, the whole "saturated fats are healthy actually" and the whole "seed oils are bad" and "polyunsaturated fats are not good actually" are things originating from meat and animal products lobbying, and recently popularized by the Joe Rogan podcast when he had a self-identified carnivore on? Or something?

Basically, it seems to be yet another manufactured culture war shit by the right filled with misinformation and disinformation that goes against the science. At this point I feel like anything that gets championed by the right needs to be very heavily examined for truthfulness.

Also, expect a lot lot more of this after the Trump administration takes over. Be skeptical of people skeptical of seed oils and polyunsaturated fats. Be skeptical of people glorifying meat and butter and saturated fats.
