Lemmy is overall well moderated. There will always be bad actors. The difference is whether they are properly removed and handled, or allowed to fester.

You always gotta prepare for the worst case. It's certainly why I am never going to bother with hosting something like this unless I'm serious about it akin to a job. If there's even a remote chance of CASM getting on your machine, you gotta assume it will and be prepared to fight to prevent it/remove it.
Marie curie wasn't really an inventor. She was a scientist discovering new physics.. which turned out to be dangerous. She died likely due to lacking safety precautions people didn't know were needed since radioactivity is harmful mainly in the long-term. Even then she lived a reasonably long time.
Even so, its still very dumb when you are, or are moving towards, being a service economy. Gutting education is destinying your country to stop being a superpower in the future.
The reason education became as big and important is because it indeed didn't work. And a well-educated populace is, like, one of the absolute most important things for a country to have, besides maybe good health. It's one of the primary metrics of a country's development index for a reason.
To be wanting to effectively abolish good education...
That would probably be the marketing division at youtube.
They'd see videos of doing and sharing pleasure instead of all the horrific shit like war or sweatshops and what not. For sure it ought to give a higher opinion.
Probably because of the Oppenheimer movie
Eh, I found it quite useful in giving me relatively well known information. As for code, it's great at telling me what functions and such do without having to traverse the documentation for a library and such, and also explaining stuff I am confused about. It is faster and more convenient for a lot of stuff, as long as you double check important info (but you have to do that anyway, never use a single source etc etc).
Not to mention having to stand for the flag and sing the anthem every day.
...it is every day, right? Because honestly to me as an European it seems sufficiently absurd (and kinda gross) that I just have to ask to make sure lmao
This is a weird mentality and not my experience at all. Many women love and are deep into games. You just need to be a nice person and keep meeting people.. and like, actually meet new people, many struggle with that part.
It may be less but certainly not a "rare minority".
