True, but the big surge in popularity should help with getting more positive pressure on the community devs to improve things rapidly.

Lemmy is the whole of federated instances. Beehaw is one specific instance. Jerboa is an app that allows you to navigate and interact with others on Lemmy.

Think of communities like beehaw as neighborhoods. The actual community groups are houses in those neighborhoods, and the town made up of all the different neighborhoods is Lemmy. Jerboa is the vehicle you use to visit different neighborhoods and houses.

I heard it was r/jailbait, but I'm not sure if that's true, just what some users have said.

Yeah, that's why I mentioned switching over to X11. Wayland is so close, but just a little too buggy still for me. I am planning on switching to Wayland 100% at the end of this year.

By then it should be where I'm comfortable with.

Many of my friends in the software developement world have said the same things. As a former sys-admin, it's happening to us too.

Management wants a single sys-admin to be an expert in databases, virtualization, cloud infrastructure, networking, cyber security, backup and redundancy, ERP systems, oh and handle all the help desk tickets, installations, physical upgrades, purchasing, cabling, and be able to automate and monitor it all.

BTW, do all of that for 75-95k per year, and you can't work remote...sound good?

Scam is totally the correct word for it. What used to be a 4-6 person team is now a junior and senior sys-admin with a single help desk person if you're lucky.
