killing 10 people and injuring 16. Minassian tells police he belongs to an online “incel” community of sexually frustrated men.

Darrell Brooks Jr., who drove into the crowd after getting into a fight with his ex-girlfriend

killing 35. Authorities say the suspect was upset about his divorce.

Fucking losers. Go for a walk if you're upset. Talk to a professional. Hit a punching bag. Literally do anything other than taking it out on people who have nothing to do with you.

The question wasn't totally accurate.

I'm not boycotting the States only because of tariffs.

I'm boycotting the States because they are a threat to Canada and the rest of the world.

I'm boycotting the States because I don't think we should have a relationship with a rapist President who embodies the worst human qualities.

I'm boycotting the States because Canada is stronger when my money is put back into the country.

I'm boycotting the States because they can't be trusted, and their regressive policies targeting immigrants, women, seniors, the LGBT community, science, or the environment, isn't something I want any part in.

Yeah, it's longer than the one on my other bike, for sure!

Shimano seems to suggest that's because it's a direct mount: https://bike.shimano.com/technologies/details/direct-mount-rear-derailleur.html

I know it can be leveraged, but it's not nearly as powerful as a dedicated GPU. I was converting in Windows using Intel Quick Sync, but never found it to be "fast", at least not when compared to my old Samsung phone.

Thanks for the tip, though. I will try to leverage it!

Exactly this. When you factor that most sexual assault isn't reported due to fear, retribution, or embarrassment, these numbers could be in the hundreds for all we know.

Synology's Hyper backup can be encrypted, so yes for my use case.

This guy literally cannot go a single day without being even more of a piece of shit than the previous day!

He was charged with two counts of failure to yield in a motor vehicle and failure to exercise due care.

Minor traffic offenses for hitting two people, killing one of them.

Cars are the only weapons where you have near immunity to consequences.

But let's ban 25lb e-scooters and ebikes that go around the same speed as a human runner. 😒

To the UK's credit, police will prosecute drivers using video evidence, so "CyclingMikey" does this stuff all day long.

The new decree aims to protect children from passive smoking

I mean, NOBODY wants to breath second-hand cigarette smoke, so this protects more than kids.

Violators will face a fine of 135 euros.

How are they with enforcement, though?

From what I understand, they charge "by the hour", so if you use less than a month, you get charged for the number of hours instead.

It's not an egress or added charge... from what I understand 😬

For those who don't know that area, there are multi-use paths (north and south side) separated from the road on Victoria St, where this cyclist was hit.

For a car to hit someone, they would need to be turning in or out of the business entrances without stopping/looking, which would mean they were at fault 100%.

No charges have been laid, but hopefully this will change.

Far too many cyclists being killed in Ontario. When are we going to take things seriously?

60 year-old was struck and later died when a car making a left turn hit her in broad daylight on Jan 29th.

**I will note that the area of McNicoll Avenue and Brimley Road has no cycling infrastructure to speak of. **

I should preface this by saying that I'm new to the DIY nut milk scene, despite being vegan for over two decades.

Not wanting to spend $300+ on a "nut milk maker", I figured I would try to use my high-powered blender first.

In addition to be being frugal, I also hate wasting time preparing/cleaning, so if a blender were to work, it needed to be quick and easy.

First I used a strainer, which did an OK job filtering almond and oat pulp, but the drinks weren't smooth, and you can feel some grit in the back of your throat.

Then I tried a cotton t-shirt (recommended by the Minimalist Baker) and a nut bag. Better results, but these are a bit of a PITA to keep clean.

Then I came across a video of a guy using a French press to filter his nut milk. Since I had a small one, I decided to try it. The experiment went so well that I decided to buy a 1L version of the bestseller on Amazon - fantastic quality.

The results are nothing short of incredible. Smooth milk, easy to gather pulp, easy to clean and sterilize, and it's a BIFL item that I can use for filtering nut milks or making coffee!

I think I just saved myself a few hundred dollars and some extra countertop space 😂

Has anyone else tried this?

This winter, I decided that I needed to do whatever I could to protect my chain, downtube, and bottom bracket from all the salt and road spray.

So, I rigged up a DIY fender extender and have been riding with it for months now.

After every ride, I do tend to wipe my chain and any parts that got sprayed, but I'm blown away by how clean the bike stays simply by having that front fender extender.

The photo shows the fender extender, held in place using duct tape (didn't want to drill holes in the fender, although, some fenders are designed so fender extenders can be put on easily). It's held like this through numerous puddles and all kinds of weather, so "it works". Make it out of a plastic file folder, which I got from Walmart for a few dollars. I can probably make another 3 out of the single file folder.

The only downside I see, which can probably be tweaked by trimming the extender to mitigate it, is that it causes more drag as it acts like a mini sail that's always working against you. LOL I'm not racing with this bike, so it's a small sacrifice for keeping it clean! I'm sure someone more crafty could come up with a design that could be easily removed, although, my setup only requires you to pull the tape off. Easy enough.

So, I've got fresh Schwalbe Big Apple tires coming in for my Tern folding bike.

I hadn't realized it until I went to order, but the ones that came with the bike are last-gen Big Apple tires with K-Guard puncture protection and SBC compound. Now, I've never had a single problem with this version of the Big Apple tires. No flats in well over 4000km, and I take this bike on really long (150km+) rides.

The new version of the Big Apple tires are Raceguard with the Addix compound. This apparently makes the tires lighter, more durable, more puncture resistant, able to handle more weight, and have lower rolling resistance. It'll be quite the upgrade for the "same" tire.

I had originally ordered the set because my rear tire is looking pretty bald, and I'd like a fresh pair for this year. The front tire still looks like they have quite a bit of tread left on them.

Question: Should I replace both tires and get the all the benefits of the newer gen compound (keeping the old front as a spare), or will it not make enough difference to even worry about replacing the front tire right now?

I ended up getting the Timetec 16GB module from Amazon (clean link: https://www.amazon.ca/dp/B07H4XNNXK).

Couldn't have been easier. I turned the NAS off, removed the drives (for easier access to the memory slot), dusted the inside of the case (absolutely needed in my home), slotted the module in, and turned the NAS back on.

The only outfit associated with a significant change in mean passing proximities was the **police/video-recording jacket. **

Notably, whilst some outfits seemed to discourage motorists from passing within 1 metre of the rider, approximately 1-2% of overtakes came within 50 cm no matter what outfit was worn. This suggests there is little riders can do, by altering their appearance, to prevent the very closest overtakes

This is quite discouraging, but it seems to ring true in my experience. I've had quite a few drivers, who have come close to hitting me (even while walking at a crosswalk), claim that they "didn't see me" while I wore high-viz everything and had lights to further improve visibility.

How do we, as cyclists, even deal with “driver blindness”?

Don't police cars have cameras in them? That should be the only witness you need.

One thing to add, is that if you use those Podium bottles, it's quite easy to take the valve apart and really give it a deep clean.

I would strongly suggest doing that every once in a while, especially if you use sugary drinks.

Marketing should always be OPT-IN by default, but these extra steps to opt out is truly asshole design.

Oh, and on the opt-out confirmation screen, you get two options: Yes or No. The button colour for "yes" is white, and the “no” button matches the “save” button on the previous screen, so it's easy to accidentally cancel the opt-out. Double-asshole design!
