Seriously.. Getting really sick of this latest form of gaslighting "you'd have been fine under Kamala!!!11", "if only you people voted to stop fascism!!1". Yeah, no.

It's the height of fucking privilege and wilful ignorance to think fascism can be voted away, and combination "I don't care about or have paid any attention to your continued oppression" and "you're to blame for me being slightly uncomfortable right now, not the people openly trying to kill you". (E: the angry downvotes are a great demonstration of that last point especially, thanks!)

Fuck that.

Ooh, my username checks out 😂

I've had pirated copies on every pc I've owned for a couple of decades, "long gone" lmao

Fuck EA, they ain't seeing a penny from me, and I definitely won't be engaging in any "ports" that probably exist to scrape my data and charge me more money lol

Ah, that makes sense, thanks! 😊

This is both adorable and deeply unsettling 😂

Sure, but that wouldn't take a whole line of individuals, that wold take a well organised group of a dozen or two, while more groups of a dozen or two go give the other billionaires a visit with their own trash bag, and others go and give some politicians a visit, and some bigger groups take control of the means of production, all while the largest chunk of working class people build the medical and educational and communal support that they need to pull all of that off and come back to once they're done.

I know beating elon up sounds like masses of fun to masses of people, but it isn't your revolution ("your" the individual, not you personally), it's ours. If you're genuinely that enthusiastic about being the one to pull the trigger, there will be plenty of opportunity, but you'll have a much better shot at it if you organise with others (E: even if we go on this being the imaginary world in the comic where the purge is real, if you think in that scenario he wouldn't have pentagon level security and mow all the people with their bags of batteries down with machine guns, you've not been paying attention).

Don't get me wrong, I'm all for composting elon, but that alone won't change much.

Never forget - we are many, they are few, there is enough composting to go around, but more importantly, we need to already be creating the foundations for an alternative, better, society, so that when we abolish the systems that currently govern ours, we have a solid and equitable framework to fall back on and build from.

(and/or the people that Farage is working for, we can make a pretty decent guess who that is).

This is it. Those running government are either puppets for, or fully fledged members of, the establishment - the billionaires and multi-multi millionaires (E: especially those we never hear about or from), and in our particular hell-hole, the royals and their gentry, who they actually exist to serve, not us. Anyone who makes it up the ranks who isn't, is attacked with everything they have to ensure the status quo isn't threatened.

It's all theatre meticulously played out all to serve one purpose - to keep our rulers in power. And it isn't just here of course, it's the very nature of nation states, and capitalism ramps it up to a whole other level. of oppression and exploitation.

The only way out is to stop abiding by their rules and abolishing their systems so we can build something better from the bottom up.

Oh yeah, they wouldn't have scrapped it unless it was damaging them somehow (like you say, or possibly by being so transparent they couldn't even muster any plausible deniability), rather than benefits claimants, as intended.

That's literally their function in government.

To give you the illusion of choice when you vote, and to function as a non-threataning-to-the-status-quo placeholder and a scapegoat for the tories to blame everything on before they get in for another term, as the overton window continues to shift to the right.

That's why establishment-keith was put at the head of the party, and why he immediately purged every even remotely left leaning MP.

It's literally how modern democracy functions, by design.

Always has been.

[–] ShareMySims@lemmy.dbzer0.com 2 points 6 months ago

They're clearly telling you, in no uncertain terms, that they don't give a fuck about society. Never have.

The idea that the government serves the people is a lie made up by those who control it and want you to continue to believe the lie while they rob you and the rest of us blind for their own personal gain.

[–] ShareMySims@lemmy.dbzer0.com 0 points 6 months ago

But we knew this was coming, and the people only now getting upset refused to listen, because they've been brainwashed in to believing that as long as you play by the rules, things will work out (while very deliberately refusing to examine, or even hear, who the rules were written by, and to what end).

I wish I had some faith that this would open people's eyes, but sadly our propaganda machines are simply far too powerful for the truth to get through to most, even when it's literally slapping them in the face.

And so the race to the bottom continues. 😑

I'd say he's the opposite of desperate, I'd say that with trump back in power, he's mostly excited and enthusiastic about what's to come.
