Their subservient proxy vassals vs our democratic equals in an alliance

have to go the REAL long way round, across the Atlantic, through the Panama Canal (or under South America), then across the Pacific

I'd just be very surprised if the decade that Ansarallah has been at war hasn't taught them a ton of lessons about how to best resist/mitigate bombings and missile strikes

It is Yemen's responsibility to not offensively and aggressively put their bases, soldiers, and people in the way of NATO's bombs, which would have otherwise hit nothing and been very peaceful

It's not really possible for me to have a 100% consistent time because like, Mondays suck, but broadly speaking the new megathreads go up between 9am and 3pm GMT on Mondays. I aim for midday but it rarely works out like that, so 3 hours either way is good enough, especially when they're weekly and so cover like ~160 hours.

if you do make a post near the end though, nobody will get angry with you if you re-post it in the new thread

In general the dollar is used as the "backbone" of most traded commodities, not just oil, though oil is obviously very important as it was (and still basically is) the major power source for all transportation on Earth. So I suppose it's a commodity in that sense, yes.

(though I think the biggest factor for the dollar's strength is that the dollar is backed by the Federal Reserve and various US institutions, which will do anything - including creating trillions of dollars out of thin air - to support it, while other countries (like China) would be much more nervous about that kind of financial wizardry. It's worth noting that others disagree on this view as the dollar as this very strong, vital force in the economy; Radhika Desai is essentially of the opinion that the dollar was never actually as strong as its proponents suggested, and that the history of the dollar since the end of WW2 has actually been weakness; stumbling from crisis to crisis as the US attempts to enforce it upon the world and is rebuffed)

The less evidence there is of a genocide, the more likely it is that there is a genocide going on. Israel could videotape themselves putting every single Gazan into a gas chamber and it would prove that they actually haven't committed genocide. Meanwhile, we must immediately convict Xi Jinping of his genocide of the Martians. Yeah, there aren't any Martians on Mars - why do you think that is?

They killed a few hundred soldiers and torched their bases, I believe, but civilian casualties were indeed probably pretty miniscule. Which makes all the hand-wringing at the time on here about how "Hmm... well... I support resistance movements but... if they're killing innocent civilians, then... idk..." extra funny in retrospect now that we know most of the civilians were killed by the Zionist entity

US Official 1: "Alright fellas, what are we doing about the Yemen situation?"

US Official 2: "Well, I've been running simulations and war exercises, and the only solution we've found is, uh, bombing them."

1: "Bombing them?"

2: "Yes, bombing them."

1: "...bombing the country that has already been bombed for a decade and has come out adapted to bombings, and is now stronger, with more military capabilities?"

2: "Exactly right, sir."

1: "...and in the region that supplies a very large chunk of the world's oil supply, many refineries of which are within range of them, and right next to one of the world's major shipping lanes?"

2: "You're quite correct, sir."

1: "...whose people march in the hundreds of thousands, if not millions, in support of Palestine and a war against us no matter the cost? And whose leadership is expressing visible excitement at being able to go to war with us?"

2: "Yes, sir."

1: "...why?"

2: "Well, their GDP is very low, and ours is very large. It should be a very easy war."

Did WW1 start in late July when Austria-Hungary declared war on Serbia, in early August when Germany declared war on France, or by late August when basically everybody (other than the US) had declared war on each other?

Unconfirmed reports of more bombs being dropped on Yemen. There were rumors several hours ago today that there were more bombings when it didn't appear that there actually were any, so this is similarly uncertain.
