Hi.

I usually buy Western Digital Elements to save huge data (as films in Blu-ray or gameplays) but i want to know if there are still the best option to portable external hard drive disk. I only pursue three things:

1. Huge capacity.

2. Big lifespan.

3. Competitive price.

I know the typical sentences as "the average lifespan is 3/4 years" or "the external hard drive disk can last 1 minute or 20 years". But i want to know in this moment, which is the best brand, the best model to guarantee (as far as possible) that the hard drive disk last many years.

I have several portables externals hard drives to save important information and data (since photographs to films in Blu-ray). I was thinking about the possibility of buying a new one, but the popularity of SSD disks make me doubt.

The most important purposes that a external disk must achieve to me, are:

1. Not needed to be conected to electricity.

2. Huge capacity.

3. Big lifespan.

I tried to investigate this topic, but i don't find any conclusions. So in the end of 2023... Which is the best option to a lifespan external disk? SDD? Or HDD?

I have several portables externals hard drives to save important information and data. I was using it without any problem... Until yesterday. Suddenly, one of them was unabled to read, warning the computer to format it.

Because of that, i have used the Crystal Disk Info to check all my portables externals hard drives and i have discovered one more damage.

Both have issues with the current pending sector count. In the first case, the hard drive has seven current pending sector count:

First hard drive disk

First hard drive disk

Surprisingly, this portable external hard drive disk is still operating and the computer can read it, with a higher current pending sector count than the external hard drive disk that is unable to read by the computer.

Second hard drive disk

Second hard drive disk

The portable external hard drive disk that isn't working in this moment, has a low number of current pending sector count than the first hard drive. So i was wondering... Is it possible to repair those current pending sector count? Because if a hard drive disk is working with seven... Why other with only one no?

So, with a a current pending sector count between 1 and 7, is it possible to repair the hard drives disks? In that case, how?
