Sorry, a mixup.

Seems kindof off topic. I put the wrong title with the article and you're questioning my education level?

Since we are asking questions here let me ask you this: what do you think about a group that say it's "awful" to not clap for a kid with brain cancer and then turn around and deport a kid (who is a citizen) with cancer?

Sorry, the title about republicans being outraged that democrats wouldn't give a standing ovation to a kid with brain cancer used as a prop at the state of the union address was incorrectly paired with the article about the republicans that deported a 10 year old US citizen with brain cancer.

What's interesting is that when you point the hypocrisy, it doesn't phase them. That's because for them it's a power move, as if to say "we get to do this but you don't." Except in this case what they did was ten thousand times worse than not clapping for someone.

Sorry for the misunderstanding, I put the wrong title for the article that was posted. The story of the 10 year old U.S. citizen with brain cancer being deported is not on fox news, they certainly won't talk about it there.

Edit: So sorry guys, there seems to have been a mixup. Here's the link to the article that goes with the title: https://www.foxnews.com/politics/social-media-explodes-after-dems-do-not-stand-for-13-year-old-cancer-survivor.amp

A couple quotes from the article:

"Democrats refused to stand for the brain cancer surviving kid! How awful can one party be?" Outkick founder Clay Travis tweeted.

"This is the first time I can remember crying during a state of the union. Thank you President Trump," Meghan McCain posted. "This is so beautiful. Anyone who has been impacted by brain cancer knows how special this is."

For those that don't want to click the link: Apparently some kid that survived cancer that wanted to be a cop got showcased at the state of the union address and democrats wouldn't give him a standing ovation. Can you imagine anything more cold hearted?

It's uncanny how much this sounds like a universal_monk talking point. And it's one that I wholeheartedly agree with. The democrats are quite useless and seem extremely unlikely to get their shit together to come up with any meaningful pro working class platform.

And Lemmy as a whole, too- unless I am very mistaken, it seems like mainstream lemmy is firmly in the liberal big-bank capitalist camp. Actual leftists (and here I am excluding tankies, just because of my personal ideological bias, I don't consider them serious or capable of producing sustainable answers) are still a smallish group.

Here's hoping that Americans turning away from fascism will see that the democrats are not a viable alternative, and that a third party, or a new way will gain enough momentum and strength to roll over these worthless bastards, conservative and liberal, to build an America that's good for everyone.

It's interesting how people post these "articles" on "news sites" that are covered with advertising like "try this one weird trick" or "put a piece of duct tape in your underwear while travelling, here's why" and try to act like its legit when its clearly not legit.

It's like those Nigerian prince email scams with deliberate misspellings and bad grammar. Hard to believe anyone with better than a 4th grade education falls for that stuff.

https://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/toronto/trump-ford-ontario-electricity-tariffs-trade-war-1.7480234

Ontario is suspending its 25 per cent surcharge on exports of U.S.-bound electricity after a top official in the Trump administration offered an "olive branch" in the form of a meeting to discuss the escalating trade war...

According cbc, Trump folded first. I believe the Canadians on this one.

Many of our parents were stressed out, over-worked, under-paid and exhausted. Many of us are stressed out, over-worked, under-paid and exhausted. What's the common factor? Capitalism.

Not to worry guys, a few tariffs will fix this.

Having had a 50lb bucket of honey I can tell you that honey use goes up dramatically because you say to yourself "well I have so much I can just use it for this, and that, and a little more on my toast..." and then friends come around asking for a little here and a little there. Unless you can be super disciplined in a way that I cannot, 50 pounds will not last more that a couple years.

Oh well never mind then, I thought it was someone else.

Cut off food for hungry children but $2.4bn for starlink? Also: Conflict of intrest? Or just plain corruption? It looks bad. Also: it is bad.

Farm policy disaster (www.washingtonpost.com)

The American agricultural industry as a whole is in big trouble. Mistakes made by a previous administration are still being felt, and are compounding with mistakes made by the current administration to hurt America's farmers even more.

Hasn't really made any progress on that yet.

How many representatives do they get? They have about a million more people than California. Do all Canadian citizens automatically become US citizens? Do they all automatically lose their health care? Would we have to take Toronto as part of this deal, or could they just stay their own thing? Do the border guards get laid off, or just transferred south? Do you think it would make the Quebec separatists start to get actually serious? Would the RCMP have to change to the CMP? Wouldn't it be better for the USA to join Canada?
