You should not discontinue medication until you speak with your healthcare provider.

Neuroanatomy and neurochemistry are complex systems. A high level symptom like depression could be coming from any one of a myriad of causes. A given medication works against specific causes, but will not work if your symptoms are being caused by something not targeted by that medication.

Until our technology and understand improves to the point that we can do some kind of neuroimaging to diagnose, the only thing we can do is to listen to your symptoms and make a best guess. If it doesn’t work, it means that guess was wrong, and you either need a dosage adjustment or a medication change. If it does work but has unmanageable side effects, that’s the same. Any continuing symptoms or side effects have diagnostic relevance, and you need to work with medical staff to dial it in.

The fact that virtually all of the developed world is operating under various systems of social democracy while not sliding into authoritarian communism is the most dramatic refutation of Serfdom that could exist.

I read it. It’s cartoonishly simple - and I can’t emphasize that characterization enough. It’s still trotted out as a “proof” that Medicare will inevitably lead the US to having a Stalinist dictator.

Team rainbow checking in. This comes off more as a chaser than anything else.

I kind of want to learn some Middle English stock phrases to grill anyone who complains about the changing nature of English being just political correctness. Like, “You want to be a language conservative? Here’s some Chaucer-era language motherfucker.”

Yeah, I know. I was just calling them on it.

This is just the latest change in which an invention changes the nature of warfare. You saw it happen with crossbows, which allowed unskilled troops to shoot people far away, gunpowder weapons, which negated armor and castles, rifles, which removed much of the need for long lines of troops using volley fire, the machine gun, which made an infantry charge much less effective, air power, which changed the nature of naval warfare, and more than I care to list.

The problem is for the very impactful changes, you have two generations of military leadership who have learned tactics and strategy based around technologies that are becoming rapidly outmoded. WWI shocked people with the level of slaughter seen.

It’s easier to adapt to using a new weapons system than it is to figure out how to respond to it, because the uses were defined as the system was being developed and just need the actual applications to be refined and optimized, while the responders have a much larger search space.

I’ll always be the first to come down on the crappiness of the Russian military - I could go on for pages about what they do wrong - but to some extent this is something all armies are vulnerable to. Look how long it took for the US to adapt to IEDs, for example.

First, the deck is responsible for almost half of “Linux” users, so it’s not in competition with Mac computers.

Second, by your logic, Linux is better than macOS by a very slim margin, but windows is by far and away the best operating system out there.

Oh, that’s bad. I’m not a Microsoft user, but one of the reasons I avoid third party mail apps is that I don’t want them to hold onto my mail on their own servers. That a $3T company is doing it is really disturbing, because it’s something I have only associated with slimy startups.

So, here’s an idea:

  1. Buy a roll of rainbow/pride/trans flag stickers
  2. While walking around, surreptitiously slap them on the backs/backpacks of the people you pass
  3. Extra points for police/military
  4. Chaos ensues

Yup, that was it. Thanks!

Which is another argument in favor of gun control.
