I think we, as a people, should stop demanding ceasefires when we aren't actually in the conflict. It's all just virtue signaling. The counties actually fighting can be the ones asking for it since it would actually be them having to follow through.

It was slow, but I remember a major crack occurring watching Stephen Fry being interviewed when he paraphrased David Hume, paraphrasing Epicurus.

If God is unable to prevent evil, then he is not all-powerful. If God is not willing to prevent evil, then he is not all-good

Things start to fall apart from there. All the other Bible stuff can be explained away as being recorded by imperfect beings, but the core notion of a good God worthy of worship ends with the trilemma.

I think this is some 4d chess shit where they realize they can get a bunch of people to void their warranty on their vehicle by making easily bypassable paid service locks in vehicles.

The only way to stop this is with regulations.

Yeah, I think we've got a "water pipe" vs. "bong" situation here, and Amazon was letting people say bong.

A camera is a camera. Calling it a bathroom camera betrays it's potentially illegal use too much. There is nothing inherently illegal about having a camera in the bathroom. Film yourself and other consenting adults all day.

Much like how calling to a bong made it contraband, but calling it a water pipe is okay, I believe Amazon will have to mandate that these be referred to as "interior waterproof cameras" going forward.

Why bother? You've made up your mind. I've made up mine. I've literally never met anyone with your opinions besides the internet.

It's important to remember that they don't believe this stuff because they are simply stupid, but they have a confirmation bias that many reasonable people would fall victim to.

When you are successful and have the weird version of modesty where you are uncomfortable taking credit for your own work but somehow believe you are a personal beneficiary of "God's Plan," your faith will skyrocket.

If you really believe in God and believe you are blessed, you'd be an asshole not praise them loudly and publicly.

I'm an atheist myself, but I don't think Christians who act this way are being crazy so much as consistent with their beliefs.

I think "many" is an exaggeration.

And your WHO reference is actually factually incorrect. The truth is they say it is beneficial.

FGM is not typically done electively and offers no benefit to women. It's something done to them for the sake of men or as a punishment.

Male circumcision is done for religious or health reasons, with the motivation to be for the benefit of the male it's being done to.

If I were a woman who had undergone FGM I would slap the shit out of any man referring to a circumcision in this manner. It's just so detached from reality and insulting.

It's a baller move. It probably annoys the person at the customer service counter in the moment, but I respect it.

It's kind of a weird article. I think it's OK for the parade broadcasters to not get too elaborate in their comments regarding the floats. No one is tuning in for that, and I think the most receptive viewers to such a message probably aren't watching anyway.

I've never watched the parade because even as a child, it was boring and felt like a commercial. The only people watching at this point are probably doing so out of tradition, and I think that's fine. There are far more harmful traditions to mess with than blown up cartoon characters strolling through town once a year.
