I was getting uncomfortable in bed so I'm on the couch for a bit with Dr Meow working on purring me better.
Well, the sore throat and cough have not progressed too badly, but the fever is not good - I keep oscilating between shivering and overheating. I'm drip feeding myself panadol to try to keep it under control. Work tomorrow is not going to be happening. I just wish we could text in sick, for some reason actually having to pick up the phone and hold it while I say a few words seems like a major chore I have to work my way up to today.
Edit: writing out the above comment was enough to psych myself up, calling in sick has been completed successfully.
That's what I was wondering yesterday. It was the getting sick option unfortunately.
I'm definitely sick - I have the air conditioner off and am sitting wrapped in a blanket. Now I'm about to head to bed. I consulted a rat who doesn't think it's covid, but it's definitely one of the plague varieties going around at the moment.
Edit: plus I replied to a comment instead of the main post, brain is definitely fuzzy. I did manage to make more jelly though, so I'll be in the jelly gang tomorrow, but right now I don't have any set jelly.
That's a common issue with those sorts of birds and any really good resources, they try to keep them for themselves and drive everyone else away. If you want to provide for the smaller birds too you need to have smaller bird baths and flowering plants that provide some nectar but not too much - anything too good the big aggressive birds bully them away from. That's one of the main things I've learned so far from by Backyard Biodiversity subject.
I think I'm coming down with a sore throat. Fingers crossed it is just dry air from the air conditioner combined with standard paranoia. ๐ค
Edit: I don't think it's paranoia โน๏ธ I've booked off sick for tomorrow and am considering making some emergency jelly.
Just me and the pets. Two bedroom. It's open plan with poor insulation and a wall full of windows in the lounge - south facing so I don't get the sun at least, but very bad insulation wise.
I have electric everything except hot water, and do a lot of food prep so I have three freezers and two fridges running which adds a bit in too. If I'm out of the house the baseline usage is around 4-5kWh.
Before I had the new split systems installed the heating and air con used a lot more power, so this is pretty good for me.
I used 22kw yesterday, the highest I've gotten to recently is 26kw. That was with a large split system in the lounge running all day keeping everyting in the low 20s, plus one in the bedroom running all night (plus a few hours before bed to cool everything down).
Normally I would be around 10kwh on a fairly mild day, but can go up closer to 40kwh in winter when I need a lot of heating.
My main problem with the tablet is Miss Meow using the corner as a face scratcher and switching programs on me. At the computer she has mostly learned to stay on her bed on the side of the desk, but she does still try and encroach over onto the keyboard just a little bit.
Sparrows are very cute. They are also quite clever. I once watched one at Southbank that had worked out exactly where to fly in front of the sensor to activate the doors into the food court.
They can be quite aggressive. A few years ago I had a good crop of apricots on my tree which were the site of an ongoing battle between a group of wattlebirds and a group of lorikeets. It would get quite noisy. In the midst of it all there was one raven that would just fly in and grab a single apriocot every day and just ignore the ongoing war.
A selection of your finest jellies please.
