I'm definitely going to have a look. I'd also rather have a certain place to live than hold out for perfection and end up homeless. But I also don't want to just grab the first thing available and end up somewhere that I don't feel happy.

I do have a couple of months up my sleeve, so it will probably end up being about how I feel when I see it in person. There is always that element you can't really tell untill you are there - something to do with the way light falls and air flows and whether you can see sky when you look out the window.

That looks great. I'd be wearing it all the time too.

You might have to keep going back to them, and it may not be their fault (although they should have told you when you made the request). When I had the finger infection the doctor said new govt. regulations mean they are not allowed to order a repeat on antibiotics, even if they know you are going to need more than one pack.

One of my rental applications has been passed to the owner to look at, giving me a sudden case of FOMO. What if I accept a place and could have got something better?! I haven't even looked at the place yet and I'm already having second thoughts. Hopefully the other place I applied for will come through for me first, it looks about 9.5/10 on my wish list instead of 7-8 ish.

I have now been implanted.

Not an alien baby or anything dramatic, a dental implant. It is not too bad but a bit ouchie.

Yeah, the trunks on those are massive and look like they are damaging the fence. Who knows what the roots are getting into. In another 10-15 years the small one that's been put in against the house will be causing some serious damage too.

Another rental application in. Unfortunately the inspection is today & I can't go because of a dental appointment. But it looks perfect for me in the photos, hopefully I can be considered and get a different inspection time. The place does have too many yuccas. I'm not sure if the excessive green of the lawn is photoshop or if the previous owner did some serious watering before selling to make it look nice but I'll be surprised if it is not dead and yellow in real life. But the house layout is great, there is a sliding door I can put a dog door insert in and an area that looks like it would be perfect to put some vegies in without much effort. So fingers crossed again on tihs one.

The other one I put an application in looks like it might be ok, but there are a lot of maybes that you can't see in the (out of date) pictures that could make it unsuitable too, so I'm not bothering with the crossed fingers for that one.

Edit to add: this is what happens when you plant one little yucca

one little yucca, what could be the harm in that?

Maybe it's got an RDO?

I dreamed about being outside too long and getting sunburned. Your sick telekenetic saw blade sounds much more interesting.

Yeah, some you have to apply for and be accepted onto a shortlist before you get to inspect it. This one sends you the link for the application at the same time as the registration to inspect, I'm not actually sure if you have to do the application first but I figure it can't hurt.

Pre-inspection rental application completed. I'm really missing the days when you would go to the real estate agent, grab the keys for anything you were interested in to go and have a look, and if you liked it you just showed some basic id & proof of income and the place was yours.

It might just be location. I'm learning the "poor" areas just by comparing rental prices. But I'd personally rather have an older house with a bit of yard space in a run down area than one of the cookie-cutter grey townhouses that comprise about 80% of the market. They are just not my style.
