I mis-timed the dog walk badly and we both ended up quite soggy. Mr Woof got the wet dog zoomies, hurtling up and down the hallway using Miss Meow as a hurdle.

Edit: Actually, the timing could have been worse. It's absolutely bucketing down now.

I have now been to bed and slept for nearly 6 hours. The joys of night shift. At least I was being paid extra to not sleep.

The only thing that can compete with the window bed for Miss Meow's attention is my lap with a heated throw rug. When I first put it up she didn't use it though, I eventually figured out she wasn't confident with the path to climb up to it as it involved an initial jump up she didn't like. I got her some pet steps to make it easier and she's up on the bed half the day now.

I've got a half front tooth as well, I hadn't realised it was so trendy! Mine's been there 31 years now, I guess the front tooth doesn't get much wear to damage it.

I haven't gone to bed yet.

Miss Meow is having a lazy day on the couch

Edit: Mr Woof agrees that it should be a lazy day, but believes it should be armchair based.

Wind has gone past howling and is whistling and rattling alarmingly. The wind chill is bringing the actual temp of 5.5^o^ down to a feels like of minus 6.3^o^

It also varies depending on which company is doing the pickup, so something that is fine in one council area might not be in another. My old council had a fairly wide range of things that could go in the recycling, Ballarat you can't even recycle glass at the moment, and the range of plastics is much smaller.

I may need glasses to ensure I hug the right person though...

My close vision has deteriorated to the point I got reading glasses this year. It's a bit of a pain because I have to swap them constantly for my multi-focals every time I do something else, but it is definitely worth it to be able to read. The other main downside is that when I want to stop and think about what I read I am in the habit of staring off into the distance, and with the reading glasses on that means staring at unfocused blobs instead of trees and clouds.

I've always gone with furry side in, but I checked with both Mr Woof and Miss Meow and they are adamant that furry on the outside is always correct.

I would like a place I can talk about the random happenings in my garden that don't justify a stand alone post. Exciting things like my tomato plant finally growing, or the sadness that my snow peas seem to be dying off prematurely.

Would anyone else like to share their gardening snippits? If there is enough interest I can set up a regularly weekly thread (@lodion@aussie.zone I presume that will be ok?)

Pic is just for interest - this is the collection of gardening pictures I put together to illustrate my garden design goals for a recent assignment.

I've stocked up on antihistimines and have been using my Nasonex daily for a while, so hopefully won't be too badly affected.

A fascinating story and the art looks amazing. The exhibit is on at Hamilton Art Gallery until 29 October.

Sad news. I have been watching periodically and thought something was wrong when every time I looked over the last few days the nest was empty. I hoped I just had bad timing.

Or, for those boring old manual clocks, you will have to put them forward an hour yourself. Alternatively, feel free to save time now and manually add an hour in your head every time you check the time, then after a few weeks get around to actually changing them, then spend a few weeks confused about whether you changed them or not and if you still need to add an hour and checking the time on your phone to make sure.

I'm not sure why some people lose all ability to engage with the real world once technology is involved, but taking selfies and using a GPS seem to create a dangerous disconnect with reality for some people.
