I went on a 30 minute run today using my Apple Watch Series 8 with a (well fitting) braided solo loop. Of those 30 minutes, my watch recorded a grand total of 14 minutes and 28 seconds of heart rate data - less than 50%.
This is SO frustrating. Tracking heart rate is one of the key use cases of the watch. FWIW I went on another 30 minute run just a few days ago using the same watch and same strap and it recorded heart rate data for over 85% of the time. Nothing different, same position on the wrist etc.
Why does it do this? Does anyone else encounter this issue? Should I return?
