From one of the manufacturers: https://support.farberwarecookware.com/support/solutions/articles/65000168119-is-nonstick-cookware-harmful-to-my-pets-

Long story short, accidentally burning a PTFE coated pan will release chemicals that are bad for you and your pet. No matter how that manufacturer softballed the answer, it's right there: the fumes of overheated plastic are harmful.

You weigh much more than your pet, so the time it takes for the resulting toxins to approach LD50 for a human are quite long.

Zipping a smaller, faster breathing pet's blood levels up to fatal are unfortunately much easier, almost by an order of magnitude depending on the pet. That article references birds as most sensitive (see: canaries in coal mines), but dogs and such being close to the floor will also get a lot of exposure to the heavy gas particles.

Yes! I've tried all the others, ceramic included.. nothing beats cared-for cast iron. Yes, you use more oil. Yes, you've gotta reseason it once every few years.

I always rolled my eyes at the cast iron zealots on Reddit, but with pets in the house, and cooking a lot, it just works.

It's cool, just reminds me of childhood eating at Ikea: https://www.ikea.com/us/en/p/sas-senap-dill-sauce-for-salmon-20028890/

Turns out it was one of few places with reasonably healthy food that was also affordable. We were a little limited in budget during my younger years.

Anyway! Cool dish, can you share the recipe?

Calyx has been my daily os for about 4 years now.

Banking works, I don't have a car so can't talk about auto. Pay also doesn't work, but I have cash and a card so whatevs. I have a few pieces of google software which are fully blocked from the network using the built in firewall (proprietary camera SW just makes better pics).

Updating and running this has been a breeze. More intrusive software reqd for work etc are installed in the "work profile" side of things, where apps don't run at all unless I allow it. Pausing all apps in that space is as simple as tapping a button in the pulldown menu.

I believe graphene may be more protected against nation-state actors, but if you're worried about privacy and want control over your data without losing features, CalyxOS actually rocks.

Oh I think it's right to stand up for those who can't (within reason, and invitation). However in this case, I'd 100% beat that ass or swallow my own teeth in trying, just to avenge nature trying to live along with the rest of us.

And a MOTHER too, with her chicks???? Ooo my godd.

This might sound crazy but I actually true my wheels using this derailleur tool.

I feel you, but... That's quite a line to cross. Like really.

You'd better be ready to justify it, because that's unacceptable to just about everyone everywhere.

I was really glad to hear about them getting rent control in Santa Ana, wish I'd gotten in on that lol.

My landlord at the time was talking about it in a panic when it passed, as if barbarians were at the gates 😂

It's orange county, previously the core of particularly cruel conservativism. Nixon's from a town over, after all.

My condolences to anyone involved.

Fantastic animation, sounds best with headphones (unless you've got a speaker system like that, you lucky bastard).

Fighter jets? (lemmy.world)

Anyone else hear these jets? They're zipping, and how.

E: Blue Angels doing some practice.

Anyone have input here?

I'm trying to decide which I like, yammie noob had a cool vid comparing the two with the xsr seemingly on top, but spec-wise, the z900 should be wild. I'm aware there are tune and exhaust kits to wake the undertuned z900 up.

I like spirited riding, but mostly on straights as I roar off to a campsite in the mountains. What do you folks think?

Google Pay alternative?

Hey there, I'm looking for an alternative to Google pay that'll allow me to use NFC payments etc. Thoughts?

I don't have a Google account, nor am I interested in opening one.
