there used to be a thing called a "point-and-shoot camera." This was a purpose-built device that only took photos

Don't do this to me

“The wording is ‘We’re here to harm children.’ Give me a break," he said. "These are young adults.”

That seems like an open admission he wants to harm "young adults"

First-term state Rep. Roger Wilder, R-Denham Springs, who sponsored the child labor measure and owns Smoothie King franchises across the Deep South, said he filed the bill in part because children want to work without having to take lunch breaks. He questioned why Louisiana has the requirement while other states where he owns Smoothie King locations, such as Mississippi, don't have them, and criticized people who have questioned the bill's purpose.

“The wording is ‘We’re here to harm children.’ Give me a break," he said. "These are young adults.”

descendants of some of Britain’s wealthiest enslavers calling on the government to apologise for slavery and begin a programme of reparative justice

Why would they need to ask the government for that? Surely they inherited all the wealth of those slavers.

It seems the WHO guidelines are not without controversy, they relied on observational studies that are extremely vulnerable to reverse causation. The few RCTs that have been done indicate that sweeteners work just fine, but the WHO thought they weren't long enough.

What exactly is the legal definition of "social media" anyway?

Personally I don't consider lemmy or reddit to be social media, they're more like several forums in a trench-coat.

The deal has always been that ~~targeted~~ advertising is how you pay for a free service.

FTFY.

The adverts on free websites for a very long time were not targeted.

I was once told, by someone that worked in the industry, that some wealthy celebrities employ someone specifically to dispute every purchase they make, because often the dispute isn't contested.
