I've not had jams. Sometimes if there's dust on the top piece of paper, from not using it for a while, it stops the "ink" from adhering there, which is annoying. You shouldn't need to buy paper and ink separately, because of how dye sublimation printers work you will always have enough ink for the paper and vice versa.

I have a canon selphy, the prints are good quality, and you can print from SD card or via wifi (I think there's an app too, but I've never used it)
You can buy a battery for it, although it charges from mains not USB.
Prints aren't super cheap, but I think it's cheaper than comparable mini printers.
