Increased their operating costs. Won't somebody think of the shareholders?!
And here I am fighting for my life every fucking night.
Everytime I read an article like this, my immediate reaction is posting a comment expressing my disgust with the Israeli State's actions and everytime I hesitate because I don't want to suffer the inevitable wave of people defending the Israeli State's actions as somehow justifiable because Hamas did something vile first.
It's a continuing cycle of violence and the Israeli State holds a humongous power advantage. They don't use that power disparity to deescalate and integrate the Palestinian people to prevent Hamas from having support. Instead they do shit like this where they drive Palestinians straight into Hamas' hands, because the Palestinian people are given no other option to turn to.
Who would have thunk it that privatising universal public services just leads to money being funnelled to private pockets whilst the services just get worse and worse.
I really hope there is a hell, because even if I end up in it, I know Thatcher is already there.
Ooh. I hope this can be set as the default for 'Copy Link' and then I can just have the tracking when I actually want it.
The fact France has an institution to control language seems distinctly counter productive to it being a lasting language.
Languages have always evolved over time; fighting that seems likely to hasten it's uselessness.
But what if we decimalised time?
I don't like the idea of more layers of representation - as far as I'm familiar, I feel like having a councillor and then an MP is fine. But I probably would support the idea that the MP is from the council stock, rather than being someone parachuted in.
Good point, you've convinced me.
Ah, humans. We never change, do we?
^^^^^dammit.
Fascinating article. Thanks for sharing.
I think the only way to really get a feel for whether it would be a good idea is if a detailed proposal was made. Everything else is just made on feelings.
Over the past few years we've seen the problems with letting simple majorities make country shattering decisions, lack of actual rules allowing ministers to come dangerously close to subverting democracy, and just general opportunity for corruption.
Found it OP cross-posted to reddit, but managed to include the link there ha.
