Yep. and some overlook the fact that means 97% of the US isn't involved. Imagine going on Lemmy all happy cuz you just got back from your protest, feeling like the "change is about to happen!" and not realizing that 97% of the country doesn't care enough about what you're doing, to even stop watching Netflix and watch the news.
Lemmy drinks a lot of copium.
I am guessing the AI framing is why this post got so many downvotes.
Yep! On Lemmy, if they see AI in the title, they won't even read the article. They'll just downvote.
Very annoying that a tech-centric crowd like Lemmy, can be so close-minded about some of the greatest tech ever. I love reading about ai tech, so I'm not part of that group.
I appreciated your article!
Here he is talking about it:
Inside the Systemd Age Verification Debate: Developer Responds to Criticism https://itsfoss.com/dylan-taylor-systemd-controversy/
He sorta sums up by saying, "A common misconception about this change is that it introduces "age verification" to Linux. It doesn't. None of the PRs I submitted involve ID checks, facial recognition, or third-party verification services. You can enter any value, including January 1st, 1900."
Still fucking annoying though.
Holy fuck, that's a great solution!
Such bullshit. It's fucking everywhere now too. The fact that this even touched the linux world is mind-boggling to me.
Thanks for this. I have an old machine in my garage, and this is gonna be my weekend project now!
But dear god, I hate how this host talks. He's doing great stuff, but his voice gets higher at the end of every fucking sentence, and and he moves like someone doing a poor imitation of a 1970's game show host. He's definitely using is "youtube hosting" voice. Hate it.
I still subscribed, because he definitely seems to know what he's doing. :)
Does anyone know any other youtubers that do this "linux on old machines" kinda stuff?
we’d go to the library and boot into Linux, bypassing the software firewalls they were running and download as much music as we could to a tape drive.
Ugh, I wish I would have been more into a scene like this when I was younger. That sounds so fun. I was mostly into sports and stuff, and that occupied all my time. Now I'm finally getting into the tech world, and I didn't realize how much fun it is.
I think that they would have hiked the prices again regardless of chip costs.
This is a perfect summary of all articles like this! lmao
Yep!
