I think they spend most of their time on traffic stops because tickets=money. IDK if it’s true on California, but other states legit have pull-over quotas so local governments can take in that fat ticket loot.

The article said they were under contract to make 10 seasons worth. Maybe they think it’s easier to just ride out the contract than break it.
Normally, they’re not fixed. They just let it crash very literally and send up a new one. NASA’s apparently working on repairable satellites.
I like the screen for the GPS and nothing else.
