Every kid learning math has to at the very least learn X and Y coordinates for graphs. That's the reason I think Y is the natural up, it just makes more sense to be in line with what everyone already know instead of flipping it around.

I kind of get the impression that the writers watched Ghost in the Shell at one point. Not that it's an incredibly unique trope to transfer human consciousness to a robot I guess, but it does remind me of the Major from GitS. And I quite like the idea.
The trailer looks amazing, but having just watched Alien: Romulus the gestation period for xenomorphs is just so fast that if they ever landed on earth I get the feeling that it'd be game over (man) in a matter of weeks or months, so I can't wait to see the show and figure out how they handle that 'mechanic'.

It's a known phenomenon in the linux community how much we hate leaving a crumb trail of any kind, but it would be nice to send a signal to game developers to start taking us seriously, and that might just be through steam stats after all.

Yeah, for cases like maps it works, but most everyone that draws don't do bird eye view drawings. I'm just saying, I think it's more natural for people to draw scenes on 2D planes, and converting that to 3D Z as "depth" makes more sense. Although all the reasons I've heard for Z as height also makes sense to me now.
