I do not think you know how democracy works, putting a cap on anything during an election (other than one vote for one person) is not letting the voice of the people to be heard. Putting a cap on how many forms someone can sign is wrong as well. I personally have never signed any longest ballot paper but I have signed multiple papers for people, I am guessing my place got put down as a willing signature giver as I signed a bunch of PPC papers for Saskatoon people until either the friends trying to get enough signatures ran out or I put up a pride flag. Not that I would ever vote for the PPC but because I believe in democracy, if people want to try their hand go for it.

It is almost like they know the deal maker is not going to be able to pull the art of the deal out of anyone’s rear end and the tax is going to be coming back. Rather then spending the money to have accountants actually remove it from Quicken they just kept it in.

I had heard that amazon was planning on moving to an ad supported thing but I never ever saw an ad, either my pihole system blocked the ads or the ads came after January.

You can rent imaginary hard drives from other Canadian companies and presto chango if you need cloud space you can use that.

If there was a premium option that people could pay for then they are the customer; if you are using it for free you are the “premium option,” in most cases, the open source world is different though. When Reddit was first a thing there where many different clients you could use some had ads some did not, when Reddit became more of a thing they turned off “the fire hose” to all the other apps you could use. Why did they do that? Well your eyeballs are worth more than whatever fee the apps were paying to use the fire hose.

It does not mater if you believe the ads do not affect you or not, they do. Don’t for a second think that oh they can try and make money off of me but I am not paying attention. The ad marketing companies have files on everyone who uses credit or debit cards then all the services they are signed up to along with every other thing attached to those services. Then you are being tracked so the ad market can build up things about who you are and how you fit in the world. We live in a capitalist world everything is about money, if you use Reddit you are paying a US company.

It has been about a year since I was last in a Walmart, I have only started boycotting Walmart in January though, I hear that many of them are just husks of what they used to be though.

Do you not just love those bans? The first time I was banned I should have realized that it was just a ploy to make me jones to use it. I should have started looking for something better then and there and welcomed people onto Lemmy when the migration started.

My last ban was something to do with talking about Trans healthcare in Canada, something I know a thing or two about, and some Cis person getting mad that I was discussing it.

I am done trying to push people over here, I would get told to suck an egg because the people are still on Reddit.

I would say good let Amazon close up and leave Canada, Canadians at this moment will be more likely to look for Canadian alternatives.

[–] Reannlegge@lemmy.ca 9 points 2 weeks ago

Yes, I have cancelled all my amazon things. The thing is though is the people who work there, sure I wish I could say they could just easily find a new job from a Canadian employer but that is going to take time.

If only we could have predicted that the orange man was going to become president, rip up NAFTA, create CUSMA because he liked the idea that he created it better, then rip up CUSMA because it was the worst deal ever. All while he thinks he is god king of the world.

In January I closed both of my Uber accounts, sure the local cab company is not much better but at least it is local and not owned by some US overlord.
