Wow how are you liking the 3000k sft-40??

I am learning Python, R, and SQL

SQL is an excellent skill to invest in. Even though your current role doesn’t allow you to use it, there’s no substitute when pulling data from a relational db.

It sounds like you’re currently focused on data quality. Automatic data quality checks are common features of (good) data workflows so this could be spun as relevant experience if you end up seeking a role writing data transformation code.

One benefit is that the same system handles ingesting data, replicating it to other regions and serving it there

candle mode

This might be the problem, candle mode has no thermal regulation if I remember correctly.

Glad you weren’t hurt and hopefully the cell can be rewrapped.

Nice! High CRI and flat output of 800+ lumens for 100 + minutes (https://zeroair.org/2023/08/14/acebeam-e75-nichia-flashlight-review/). Seems like a great design. $99 list price seems a little high but maybe Acebeam is discounting it.

Good call out, that one by Le Guin is part of the same universe as the very good The Left Hand of Darkness.

D Cell

Lumintop AD01 came out this year, no idea why but they support 1 D cell.

Martian Chronicles sounds like a good one

night vision scope 😆

As someone who started after 21700 became popular, I’ve never felt the need to buy a multi-cell flashlight thanks to single-cell existing for most use-cases and not wanting to have to think about ensuring all cells have the same charge or keeping them paired together. So I like this development since it means there can be more simple 1-cell lights.

But realistically I won’t be carrying a 4680 light around regularly (even Convoy m21b is a bit too large).

That makes sense that it’s easier to flash directly since there are so many different parts and variations to the actual destination hardware.

I read that one of Toykeeper’s original design decisions was to separate out the generic UI code from the specific code that interfaces with the hardware (being vague due to lack of knowledge). Maybe it would be possible to incorporate some testing code that only evaluates the user inputs compared to expected outputs within the Anduril layer? Such as a single state transition like “when multi-channel is enabled and user selects 4H, selected output level is equal to turbo”. Such a test could be indicate unexpected behavior when UI code is being customized.

Just adding to the imaginary backlog here!
